From Sungai Petani to Kuala Kedah then to Langkawi Island

Yeah!!! I went to Langkawi Island last week on my company trip. We celebrated BearLake and Little Valley successful launch over there. This was my 3rd time going on vacation this year. I went to Singapore, Cameron Highlands and now Langkawi Island.
From Sungai Petani to Alor Setar
Oh… I forgot to mention that I went to Langkawi Island with my dear (I need to pay RM250 for her because company charged RM250 for outsider. 
). We went there by car because my company people did not want to pick us up at Sungai Petani highway toll. They started from Penang and Kulim. However, they did not want to fetch even though they would go pass Sungai Petani. In addition, I cannot claim for my own transportation. Which company do I work in? Come on… Guess lo… (Tips – It is a US company and you will have its product at your home). Shouldn’t be hard to guess it. 
It is cutting cost since last year due to poor revenue…
Alor Setar to Kuala Kedah
This was my first time to Langkawi. I stayed in Kedah for more than 20 years and I do not go to Langkawi since then. Ha… Ha… By the way, langkawi is a duty free island which mean that you can buy a lot of cheap stuff there because they are not charged for import tax.
Kuala Kedah Jetty
We reached Kuala Kedah Jetty around 10.30am. It took us around 1 hour to reach Kuala Kedah from Sungai Petani. We went out late a bit. Therefore, we did not manage to catch the 10.30am ferry. We had to take another ferry which would depart on 11.30am. It mean that we would be late because we needed to meet all the others at 12.30pm at Langkawi Jetty. And the ferry will take around 1 hour and 15 minutes from Kuala Kedah to Langkawi. How???

By the way, the ferry ticket is RM18 each while RM15 if from Kuala Perlis. We got up ferry on 11.15am. And the ferry took off on 11.30am sharp. What could we do? All we could do was pray that the others would be late. Else they would not wait for us…

It was a long way to langkawi if you did not do anything in the ferry. So we took photo lo… And chatted all the way. My dear played games with my pocket PC along the way.
Turtle Island???
Finally, we reached Langkawi Jetty at last. It was 12.50pm already and the others did not show up yet. Yeah!!! We were saved. After 10 minutes, they arrived. Luckily, their ferry from Kuala Perlis started late and it took longer time to reach Langkawi Jetty (usually 45 minutes from Kuala Perlis to Langkawi). We headed to have our lunch then.

Nice blog about langkawi..I would like to ask for car park at Kuala Kedah jetty, how much it’s cost per day and where to park safely? I did heard if park at jetty area might be flooded due to high tide.

Hi Wani, I forgot already since that was trip on year 2007. Thing might be different there now.
