Tired of a very slow transfer rate using Canon EOS 400D Digital USB 2.0 via EOS Utility (WIA)? Fear no more. Get yourself a generic USB 2.0 memory card reader. It costs me less than RM20. It will certainly faster than using Canon EOS 400D Digital USB 2.0 via EOS Utility (WIA).

Generic USB 2.0 memory card reader
I ran some test on Canon EOS 400D Digital USB 2.0 via EOS Utility (WIA) and generic USB 2.0 memory card reader with Transcend 2GB CompatFlash 120X. The test used 500MB of RAW photo. I managed to get 3.4 MB per second on Canon EOS 400D Digital USB 2.0 via EOS Utility (WIA) only while 12.5 MB per second with generic USB 2.0 memory card reader. Hmm… Canon really needs to work hard on this.
Get yourself a USB 2.0 memory card reader. Your life will be easier then…

It’s cheap. But looks good! Like the transparent cover so can see all the things inside.
That’s really cheap eh. RM20! Something to look at next time. Thanks for sharing this
Ya… Ya… It is really cheap but useful.
You have very nice photos and a nice blog here. I will be getting my 400D *really* soon! *Excited*
Thanks narrowband. You can get it at B&H Photo like I did. It has promotion now.
