Citibank has a promotion with Shell Citibank Credit Card. You can buy HP Compaq Presario PC700 Notebook for RM799. However, the system specifications at Citibank website are not clear.
PC specs (from Citibank website):
The notebook is still considered cheap with RM150 delivery and processing charges. RM949 for a HP notebook is cheap. However, does it worth the price?
I searched online for its specifications. But failed to find it. Therefore, I contacted Citibank and HP. Finally, I got it…
Here are the specifications that I got…
Presario C700TU - Celeron 540 1.86GHz, 512MB, 80GB HDD, 15.4″ TFT WXGA, CR-RW/DVD, FreeDOS, No Carry Case
In details…
Processor - Intel Celeron M Processor 540 - 1.86Ghz
Memory (std/max) - 512MB 667MHz / max to 2GB DDR2 Memory (512 x 1 pcs)
Hard Disk Drive - 80GB
Display/Resolution - 15.4″ TFT WXGA high definition widescreen LCD panel with brightview technology
Optical Drive - Combo DVD/CDRW Drive
Bluetooth - No

Pointing Device Type - 101 key compatible, 1 Quick Launch Button and Touch Pad with On/Off button and dedicated vertical and horizontal Scroll Up/Down pad
Ports - USB 2.0 x 3, VGA x 1, TV out x1 , RJ-45, RJ-11, Stereo Headphone Out, Microphone in, Kensington lock
Media Card - 5-in-1 integrated digital media reader slot
Batterytype/Batterylife - 6-cell Lithium-Ion (4.4Ah) – provides up to 4 hours and 16 mins of battery life
Dimension - 35.7 x 25.7 x 3.28 ~ 4cm
Weight - 2.76kg /6.10lbs with 6 cell battery
Warranty - One year International Limited Warranty (parts/labor/carry-in)
Well, do you still want to purchase this notebook? Hmm… It is a hard decision to make as this notebook lack of wireless devices such as WiFi, Bluetooth and Infrared. Poor Celeron might not able to run Windows Vista properly even after added another 1GB RAM.
Can you help me to decide?

2This means that you could not surf net in Starbucks? No wireless is equivalent to no communication with the rest of the world. Must as well purchase a more powerful desktop.
Dude, so you are planning to purchase this laptop ah? Since you are working with Intel… you should get the latest technology…
If i were you, i will forego the offer…

3Benny, Ya lo. That is the problem.
TZ, I wish to use latest and greatest laptop. However, that require a lot of money. I put most of my money in SLR camera already. No money for laptop or PC.

4It’s indeed very cheap and affordable. If you need a laptop urgently to do some paperworks, watching movie , listening to music, still ok lah. But i think you are just buying a 5 yrs old laptop. If i were you i would forego this offer

7We can add on USB WIFI and USB Bluetooth. But I am not sure about Windows XP. Anyway, I am going to buy it. Will try to install Windows XP then.
By the way, HP did not provide all Windows XP drivers. We need to download them from other website.
