Sushi King at Prangin Mall, Penang
There are a lot of varieties of sushi to choose from. Just make sure that you have enough money to leave the shop before you select them to eat.

Come come, my yummy sushi…

Look delicious?

Mum… Mum…

My set lunch
Yeah… The foods are good. But the service is a little bit disappointed. Why? They did not allow us to sit at the place that reserved for 4 persons. But they allowed other couples (2 persons only) to sit there. NOT FAIR!!!

He… He… That day I asked you where to eat… You selected Little Oasis one lo.
The last Sushi King I went to is in the Equine Park. The service is Ok. But I prefer Sakae Sushi.
Oh… Will try Sakae Sushi when free. Where is it by the way?
There is one Sakae Sushi in Queensbay Mall Penang. Sushi King is out from my list… they did not provide good service and their food is not as fresh as Genki Sushi especially the one in Summit. I still prefer Genki Sushi which they give 20% off for citibank credit card holders. Very sad to say that there is no Genki Sushi in Penang at this moment.
If you happened to drop by KL… try Genki Sushi eh!
Will do, sir.
Do you try genki sushi, saisaki or jogoya.Very nice.
Nope… None of them have been tried before.
hmm..genki sushi is not my choice. sushi king will be my best choice ever. genki chawanmushi is tasteless. but in sushi king.. *YUMM*. genki sushi A/c menu doesnt have much varieties.. girl, u make a good choice to eat sushi king~ YUmm.
No comment on Genki Sushi as I did not try it before. Suddenly scare of Japanese food… Eat too much already.
I went to Sushi King in Prangin Mall with my sister. Guess what, the place was full and luckily, we saw a table, however the table is full of plates. We stood there waiting for the waiter to clean it up but after waiting for 10 minutes…no one came to attend it!!! We were quite impatient and my sister walked to the nearest waiter to ask him clean away the plates. He didnt even look at my sister and walked away! I only saw d guy’s name as Lim…We complained to the store manager and she came and took d plates away. After eating, we called d waiter to write number of plates coz we r going off…again, no one attended. Furious, we straightaway take d bill n go to the cashier. Then only d cashier go to our table to count d plates…d customer service there is soooo baddd……
I had a very unpleasant experience today at the Sakae Sushi in Gurney Plaza, Penang.
Date: 23rd April 2009
Time: 1:30pm – 2:00pm
Location: Gurney Plaza, Penang, Malaysia
I decided to have lunch at Sakae restaurant because the shop front looks very modern and the menu is very well designed as well as offering a lot of choice and varieties. I was seated at the restaurant at 1:30pm and left at 2:00pm. My order was Hamachi sushi, Unagi rice and tea set (promotional item) and a salmon sushi plus a hot tea once I sat down.
The salmon sushi came first and it was a good start. Then came the second item, it was the hamachi sushi, my favourite. However, the hamachi looked pretty bad, it didnt look a tad bit fresh at all. The colour has gone greyish and it smelt!!! I promptly returned it but was given a rather nasty look by one of the black suited waiters. Then 10 mins later, my unagi rice and tea set came. The unagi and rice was COLD. Worse of all, the tea tasted SALTY!! At first I thought this is some kind of speciality tea. Then I compared with the tea bag I had earlier on, it was the same!!! So I knew right away that my tea has undergone some sort of “modification”. A prank should I say. It was totally and utterly a very unprofessional act by the staff and I promptly pointed it out to the manager on duty. I paid the bill and left the restaurant immediately. Worried if there will be another prank thrown at me.
Absolutely an unacceptable service and act from a restaurant in Penang. I hope this will draw their attention to the issue. Regret to send this feedback here. I just hope that it will not happen to any of my friends or families and public in Penang.
A feedback has also been sent to the Management.
is it a hallal restaurant??? did this restaurant got permission from Halal Jakim??
Sorry, not sure. Please ask Sushi King at http://www.sushi-king.com/sk_web/contact/sk_enquiry_form.php
Let me first say that one cannot compare Sushi King to Genki or Saisake. They are of different cuisine category. However, Sakae is in the same class. Now in between these two giants, in terms of services they both have their flaws and I am not going to comment on that. But I assume most of you do not realized which is better in terms of freshness. Let me point out to you that Sakae’s sushi which was left on the selection has got no control over timing. Let me stress that timing is very important when it comes to sushi; for example, how long can a piece of salmon’s freshness last once cut and served? If you look at Sushi King’s, every plate has got a time sticker on it’s cover once prepared. What happens here is that once expires (assembly 4 hours), the manager will collect and throw away even if it’s not consumed. So do you want good gadgets or fresh sushi?
