Continued from Cooler Master CM 690 (RC-690) chassis

Alright, it’s time to get my gear powered up. I have 2 power supply units to select. There are Cooler Master Silent Pro M600 and SilverStone SST-ST60F. ATI Radeon HD 4870 requires 600 Watt and four 6-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX technology in dual mode. I plan to have 2 ATI Radeon HD 4870 display cards in the future. Therefore, I need a minimum 600W power supply unit.

Cooler Master Silent Pro M600

One of the Cooler Master Silent Pro M600 features is single +12V rail provides more power for overclocker like me. But I do not know what that is. :P I choose it because of its 135mm ultra silent fan. I don’t like fan noise during watching movie. Therefore, a silent PSU is a must for me. Normal 120mm fan PSU has around 28 dBA noise level while 135mm fan PSU is 18 dBA only.

SliverStone SST-ST60F

I like SilverStone SST-ST60F because of its 4 x 6 pin PCI-E cables. This is the only 600W PSU that have 4 x 6 pin PCI-E cables that I found. And I believe the price is cheaper than Cooler Master. Based the specs, SilverStone SST-ST60F looks better than Cooler Master Silent Pro M600. And it is ATI CrossFireX certified too. However, I am new to SliverStone. Is SilverStone PSU good?
