Citibank Malaysia lets me down again. Yup. This is not the first time and I think it will not be the last time too. The story started like this…
A Citibank officer called to confirm with me which gift that I want when I signed up AirAsia-Citibank credit card. I selected free 2GB Philips MP3 Player (Model SA1928). After few days, I received a SMS from Citibank that I will receive free gift within 8 weeks after my AirAsia-Citibank credit card approval. However, I did not receive it yet after 8 weeks. Therefore, I wrote to Citibank to ask.
Here was Citibank Malaysia reply…

Order form? What is that? A Citibank officer already asked what gift that I want and I told her too. You are asking me to fill in an order form while I did not receive any form at all in the first place. Are you willing to give me the free gift?
What kind of service did you get from Citibank Malaysia?

Bad Luck, next time make sure you get it on the spot. Or maybe you just call and check. emailing them will end up with the same thing like “streamyx” . “Please Check your modem” well technically, it’s their problem and not ours.
Haha… TM Net support really ‘bad’. Always asked us to check this and check that before file in the report.
Kenny, i encountered the same problem with Streamyx… at one time i asked them not to pay a visit to my place before they ensure it’s not their problem…
Anyway, Jayce, get back the person that you sign up with to handle your case… don’t need to handle yourself. Be more arrogant to Citibank… and hint them that you are from I Need To Enjoy Life company :p
@TZ: I signed up online. Then a girl called me for some follow ups. By the way, I like the way you mention your previous company ~ I Need To Enjoy Life.
this really a bad experience, recently a citibank officer call me said to send me a new citibank card, but so far few week already, still never receive any card yet…
agree..
citibank malaysia service is really lousy..it is as bad as any local bank..
..if u really cannot stand their service just change your bank…you will get nothing from complaining..i dun think they even bother about us..unless u have a deposit of say RM100,000 cash deposit with them..
@Calvyn: You better call Citibank. Else you will be end up like me.
@KK: Thinking of cancel this credit card again after getting my gift.
…hmm, I wonder can you ask them for the tele-conversation recording proof
Nevermind, I faxed over the order form to the third party who manage this gift. Need to wait for another 2 weeks for the gift to arrive.
Attention to all citibank’s staffs out there..
u need to watch this video..

Move to other bank…. Free For Life….
@CW: I applied it just because of the gift.
I already have Direct Access free for life card.
[...] finally. It is a gift from Citibank Malaysia during AirAsia-Citibank credit card promotion. It took Citibank Malaysia more than 3 months to send 2GB Philips GoGear Digital MP3 Player (Model SA1928) to me. And I had to follow up myself [...]
wow! i read n heard a lot of complaints about CityBank services! and yeah customer services as well! but i just when to the interview and it had 4 stages of an interviews!
i thought they are very strict kind of bank but to look @ the complains i was wondering how can this all good “customer service” peoples manage 2 went thru all the interviews but sux @ their job! emm….
myb i shud consider again 2 join the company!
At the beginning of October I was approached my Mr. Chong at the Curve, Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, to apply for an AirAsia Citibank credit card.
Mr. Chong informed my husband, my niece and I that there are no annual fees, but plenty of benefits. After conversing with Chong, I signed up for an AirAsia credit card.
2 weeks later, I received in my mail TWO credit cards- one from AirAsia and the other Giant. It is my testimony that Mr. Chong fraudulently altered my form after I had signed it.
Further it is my claim that Mr. Chong confirmed there are no annual fees. However when the cards arrived it stated on the front page that there will be an annual fee unless I swipe each card at least 3 times within the next 60 days.
I immediately called the central customer service line to complain. Mr. Chong called to apologise, and to offer a gift of a free bag. I rejected the offer. His boss called to apologise. I informed him I would deal with the bank directly.
Mr. Anthony Lim called to explain the benefits and to encourage me to give both cards a try. I re-stated the gravity of the offences committed. Ms Preet followed up. Compensation was discussed. Her final offer was a RM100 credit to the account, and an offer for me to purchase a laptop at a reduced price of RM499.
I declined the offer in totality. It is an insult that I would have to pay for Citibank’s wrong-doings against me.
I have informed the National Consumer Complaints Center, and will file at the Consumer Tribunal
after read all of your comments, it makes me think twice again in applying citibank cc.
Well…eventhought that Citibank is such prestigious bank, or so they think, their service really SUCK big time. I believe since the city never sleep, they are too tired. I wont count on them to help me when i am abroad and never once use their card. Will need to cancel their card as there are many good bank out there. They offer many gift as their service is not good to attract customer!!!! But as long time consumer, we need to think smart and not to be downgraded by them.
WORST BANK EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have bad experince applying for their card. Wasted so many time to fax to them and in the end, my request rejected. However, i have been approved by another bank at the same time????
Ermm
after read all the comments above.. what i can think are :
1. all decision is yours.. so before apply or decide anytg, u should think 1st and dont blame others because of your careless
2. Priya.. if u read t & C when apply credit card, u shld know alrdy it subjected to approval..why still blame others
3. jayce.. if just because of gift, why u make other people life so difficult. U shld know if u work in sales maa…u no money meh to buy 1 for yourself
as conclusion, anytg before submit any docs or whatever to any company, pls read carefully for t & c. normally company will put this behind and with small letter..that current strategic applicable for all company.. if u complaint..complaint nothg can be change.. just move on if u dont like for spesific company services..
Citibank service has gone down to cow dung level. I have been complaining through BNM on their lousiest service ever rendered, and the Citibank officer replied that “rest assured, you complaint will be attended”. It’s more than 1 month since they could reply me. All the banks are the same, they are having a good relationship with bnm FOR them not to interfere them it seems, if not why BNM also should keep quiet on the non reply of Citibank?.
They should change their name to SHITTYBANK instead of CITIBANK
Does anyone know what is Citibank Head of Malaysia’s email address?
Haha! “Don’t call me, I’ll call you, on my dead body!” LOL.
By the way, please keep every shred of records when dealing with them, including names and verbal promises.
