PC LCD monitor trend is going to 16:9 ratio? I received a call from my aunt lately. She wanted to buy a new LCD monitor and asked for my opinion. I told her to grab a 19″ LCD monitor at PC Depot. Few hours later, she called back that there were not 19″ LCD monitor available. There were 18.5″, 20″ LCD monitors. I was surprise. Therefore, I checked online. I discovered that most of the LCD monitors out there is using 16:9 ratio instead of previous 16:10 ratio. The first question comes to my mind. Is 16:9 ratio good for PC gaming?
Most of the latest LCD monitors are all in 16:9 ratio. There is the standard for high definition (HD) LCD monitor. Several 20″ and above LCD monitors will have Full HD standard ~ 1920x1080px. And their price is very attractive too. 1920x1080px resolution is good to watch 1080p Blue-Ray movie disc. How about in PC gaming? Most of the latest games do support 16:9 ratio resolutions. So gamers do not need to be worry. After all, TV console games are all in 16:9 ratio.
Let’s take Dell S2409W 24″ Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor as example. The online price for this 24″ LCD monitor is only RM699. I still remember that I bought my Samsung T220 at RM950 last year. Oh boy, the LCD monitor price really drops fast. With RM699, you can get yourself a Full HD 1920×1080 LCD monitor. Isn’t that great? Dell S2209W 21.5″ Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor is another Full HD LCD monitor and it is priced at RM529 right now. I still remember that 15″ LCD monitor cost more than RM1,000 during my university life time.
I don’t mind to have 16:9 ratio LCD monitor. How about you?
…yea, moving out from 16:10 to 16:9
Price drop problem is very general in LCD market. But your ratio is really very serious. All the LCD Monitor are looking good but it is very difficult to choose one of them. I am using Samsung 225BW 22inch WideScreen LCD Monitor.
Yep, I just bought a Samsung 23 inch 1920×1080.
All the new games I own support it so why not? plus you can find some killer deals if you look really hard.
Got mine for under 200 dollars.
