Attention to SLR camera lovers, here comes another new entry SLR camera from Canon ~ Canon EOS 500D / Digital Rebel T1i / Kiss Digital X3. This is the next 2 generations from the SLR camera that I have ~ Canon EOS 400D Digital. So is this a good time to upgrade?

What I love most in Canon EOS 500D is the ability to record video. Video recording in digital SLR camera is not longer a new term. Nikon D90 is the world first digital camera that can record HD video while Canon EOD 5D Mark II is second one but world first in Full HD 1080p video recording. The other new features also look very interesting for this entry SLR camera.

Canon EOS 500D Digital Features

  • New 15.1 Megapixel CMOS sensor with DIGIC 4 Image Processor for faster processing of fine detail and natural color reproduction, 14-bit A/D conversion for smooth color tones and gradations.
  • Full HD video capture at 1920 x 1080 resolution with HDMI output for HD viewing of stills and video.
  • Live View Function for stills (Quick, Live and Face Detection AF modes) and video.
  • 3.0-inch Clear View LCD (920,000 dots/VGA) monitor with anti-reflective and scratch-resistant coatings for improved viewing and smudge protection.
  • Auto Lighting Optimizer for superior highlight-shadow control.
  • Wide range ISO setting 100-3200 (ISO expansion: 6400, 12800).
  • Creative Auto goes a step beyond auto allowing control over frequently-changed settings.

Will I upgrade my Canon EOS 400D Digital to this new camera? No. Why? I would like to upgrade to another class. I am targeting Canon EOS 60D / 7D Digital which should come out late of this year. I can’t stay in entry level forever, right?
