Continued from Maritime Museum (Replica Flor de La Mar), Malacca
Maritime Museum Phase 1 was opened by Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, former Prime Minister of Malaysia on 13 June 1994. While Maritime Museum Phase 2 was opened by Y.B Datuk Poh Ah Tiam, Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism, Culture and the Environment on 23 May 1998. Phase 1 highlights Malacca’s importance as a regional and international business centre from the period of the Melaka Sultanate, right through the Portuguese, Dutch and British era. And phase 2 shows the majesty of the seas and the oceans, the inter dependence of the maritime world and Man, and the role of the seas and oceans in Man’s continuing progress.
