In the search of the best Android build on HTC HD2, I need to try lot of different Android build. However, I face a problem that slows me down ~ download application from Android Market every time on new build. How to backup Android .apk file? I want to make a copy of the downloaded application locally. So that I don’t need to download them again and again using slow Internet connection.

How to copy Android .apk file?

  1. Install ES File Explorer from Android Market.
  2. Launch ES File Explorer.
  3. Bring up property view and select ‘Manager’.
  4. Select ‘App Manager’.
  5. Hold on the application that you want to backup until Operations window pop-up.
  6. Click on ‘Backup’.
  7. That’s all. You application will be copied to backups folder.

From now on, I don’t have to access Android Market to re-install back these backup applications. You can too.

  1. Titanium Backup would be alot easier and also allows backing up of “protected” ie pay apps as well as the free ones. Additionally you can backup your settings for the app so when you reinstall it’s back like you want it.
