How to unlock Windows Phone 7 HTC HD2 with ChevronWP7?

My Windows Phone 7 on HTC HD2 is useless without unlock. Why? I cannot access to Windows Marketplace, XBOX Live or use any Windows Live Services without getting Windows Phone 7 activated. Even that I can access, can I? Hmm… Malaysia does not support them yet. Therefore, the only way to install applications without Windows Marketplace is to use 3rd party software. And that requires your Windows Phone 7 to be unlocked first.

Thanks for xda-developer, ceesheim for coming out this guide. And here is the detail step by step guide that I have gone through…

How to unlock Windows Phone 7 HTC HD2 with ChevronWP7?

  1. Unzip Windows Phone 7 HTC HD2 Unlock Toolkit with 7-Zip ~ download link.
  2. Install Windows Phone Developer Tools ~ download link.
  3. Install Zune ~ download link.
  4. Open Zune and connect phone to PC with USB cable.
  5. Set your phone name as ‘HD7’.
  6. Attach ChevronWP7.cer (in toolkit ChevronWP7Cer folder) to your email and send the email to your email itself with PC.
  7. Login to your email account (on phone), open that email, select attachment and install the cert.
  8. Set your phone screen time-out to ‘never’ at Settings – lock & wallpaper.
  9. Make sure your phone date and time is set correctly.
  10. Make sure Zune is still running in background with phone connected.
  11. Make sure that your phone isn’t locked or the screen isn’t off during below installation.
  12. Based on the guide ~ close Skype and disable network adapter… hamachi… wireless… Dropbox… etc. But I did not have any of these and my Wi-Fi still on.
  13. Copy ChevronWP7.exe (in toolkit ChevronWP7-NoSideloadLimit folder) to local C: drive.
  14. Right click on it and select ‘Run as administrator’.
  15. Click ‘Yes’ if User Access Control prompt up.
  16. Check both preparation checklist and click ‘unlock’.
  17. Right click on Tom XAP Installer.exe and select ‘Run as administrator’.
  18. Click ‘Yes’ if User Access Control prompt up.
  19. Close it after it was loaded.
  20. Double click TouchXplorer.xap and install it on device.
  21. Double click XBMODDeployer.xap and install it on device.
  22. Copy CustClear.provxml (in My Documents – My Ringtones) to Windows folder on the phone using TouchXplorer.
  23. Double click Connection Setup.xap and install it on device.
  24. Click check button on connection setup to install CustClear.provxml.
  25. Set back your phone screen time-out to your previous setting.
  26. Reboot your phone.
  27. That’s all.

    how to solve this prob?i already set da date & time same with laptop,already open Zune on the backround n detect my fon as HD7..sync music from Zune to phone at da same time,no prob..

    • Connection Setup will be launched after you install it, right? Just click check will do. That’s all. It will install CustClear.provxml for you automatically.

    Date and format are correct, USB connected, Zune running OK, phone screen permanently on… Tried everything can’t seem to get past this. Any other hints Jayce??

  4. I am lock on step 23, the launcher said “Make sure you phone is unlock, Make sure you are connected with zune…”‘

    Everythings was ok before !!

    Any ideas ?

  5. i keep getting soory having trouble comunicating with phone.. i cant even open chevronwp7.. what do i do.. i am connected it even shows it in zune..

  13. Okay. I followed steps 1-27, no problems. Everything installed properly. After I rebooted and went to the Marketplace, I clicked to install an app. I was asked to enter my Windows Live ID, and got a message saying there was a problem setting up my ID on the phone, and I need an activation code. What should I do now?

    zune is running …

  16. Hi, I want to ask how to unlock Windows Phone 7 without jailbreak? whereas Microsoft doesn’t support my country (Malaysia) refer to this –> http://www.yallaapps.com/faq#launched-markets
    And i can’t unlock it by signing up with a different country for which i do not have matching ID for. If GeoTrust cannot validate my ID from how i signed up. Are there anyone can help me to unlock it?

    Good job on that, this is such a great tutorial with lotz of details, but hey I get this problem when I want to unlock :

    and the Application crashes after that.
    I have check so the phone would not be sleep, I stopped my anti virus/firewall/skype is off as well so the port 433 not to be used.

    But still getting problem!

    Please any help ?

  31. Dear Jayce, I’m having the same problem with Alex while running into step 16. It shows:
    Sorry I’m having trouble with the phone.
    – Pls make sure it’s connected using USB
    – Pls start the Zune application

    But my date, time and zone is same with my pc. My phone is not locked or timed out. My PC Zune is on and I’ve done all the steps above.

    Please help me to solve this problem,

  32. Hi Jayce, sorry but it still not work out. My phone is HTC HD7, when I install this, it says:
    An error has occured, Read below for more information.
    Error Descriptions: USB init failed
    Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (1198)

    Pls show me how to get it done.

  38. I have got my activation key but Chevronwp.exe is not working i have tryed alot. suggest me something. I have windows 7 64 bit in my laptop and installed all necessary framework updates.

  39. I got the activivation code and put it in and I can’t still install anything cause its always saying ” can’t get info please try again later ” . If I try this will it let me install things?
