Samsung Galaxy S II Recovery Mode

I have been using Android HTC HD2 for quite some time. However, native Android phone like Samsung Galaxy S II does not have ClockworkMod Recovery Mode like Android HTC HD2. Samsung Galaxy S2 does have recovery mode but with less features compare to ClockworkMod Recovery Mode. Samsung Galaxy S2 has Android system recovery <3e> which can apply update from SD card, wipe data / factory reset and wipe cache partition only.

Samsung Galaxy S II Recovery Mode

How to load into Samsung Galaxy S II Recovery Mode?

  1. Turn off SGS2.
  2. Press and hold down Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time.
  3. Release all buttons when you see SGS2 Logo.
  4. Android system recovery will be loaded then.

  1. Hi there, just wondering, but is it normal for a “Downloading… Do not turn of target!!” screen to come up for a long time after rooting? I’ve been waiting quite a while and it’s still there so I don’t know whether this is frozen or just something to leave for an hour or so?

  2. Hi Jayce
I am running frankenstein firmware KI3 2.3.5 rooted using odin and CW kernel.
I have got now a problem where I can’t install anything via ROMmanager, because signature failed.
Also I am unable to enter normal clockworkmod but I always end up in this Android system recovery . Any ideas?

    Thanks

  3. thanks for this info jayce…

my sgs2 got it’s screen locked… it said i have to unlock it through a gmail account… i can’t remember the username and password already… in other sites or forum, they mentioned that i have to reboot or set the phone in its recovery mode… so i tried your above-mentioned steps… however, it didn’t seem to work… it’s still locked…

what can you suggest about this..? ^_^

  4. Hi Jayce,

  5. Hi Jayce,

Thanks for the fast reply. I still got few questions for you. After i rooted my phone, when i tried to do a Nandroid backup thru CWM, there’s an error message “can’t mount backup path”.

I suspected that it may be because i forgot to enable “USB debugging” on my phone during the rooting process. Is it so? and how do i rectify the issue, do i need to do re-rooting and how do i go about it??

Sorry for the many questions thrown to you. Thanks in advance.

  10. hi guys, i have a galaxy s2 i9100 and im having a really bad time dealing with it, heres a list of the problems:

1)it is not recognized nether by odin nor by samsung kies.

2)it doesnt boot into download mode, and when trying to, it boots into whats so called “factory mode”.

3)it doesnt boot into recovery either, and when trying the key combinations it also boots into “factory mode”

4)when trying playing with the keys it booted into a dead android with a red triangle on his stomach.

note: i tried all the possible ways even adb comands to boot into download mode but it was worthless, i double checked the drivers many times but no results,.. ohh and btw the “factory mode” only lets me do tests on the hardware of the device.. nothing else…
pls help as soon as possible.. thanks in advance :”(
