Lite’ning ROM is one of the famous custom firmware for Samsung Galaxy S II. It can be your very first custom ROM because it is installed through Odin instead of ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM). Lite’ning ROM v5.0 is based on official XXKG6 firmware Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread. And it is rooted with CF-Root (ClockworkMod Recovery, CWM Manager, Superuser and BusyBox are added), zipaligned and deodexed. It is blue themed, memory and kernel are tweaked. GO Launcher EX is added too. Therefore, you can select between stock TouchWiz Launcher and Go Launcher EX.

    1. Difference of ROM/MOD/Kernel/Firmware?
    2. Difference of CF-Rooting and SuperOneClick Procedure?
    3. Do I need to root first before installing the Lite’ning?

    I watched all your movies and been searching some procedure yet i don’t know what process i will use. X.x

      I am using the same firmware as yours – XWKF1. Therefore, everything posted by me should work for you too. 🙂

        when I go to xda-developers. I cant choose what to use. they are in [ROM] and [MOD]. im just confuse. some of you’re procedure needs kernel or need firmware. haha.

    2 language questions:
    1. If Hebrew is supported in language settings ?
    2. If I change language for Hebrew will it change the input keyboard as well or only display language ?

    can i install lightning rom from cwm..i have backedup my stock rom using my backup pro and it got saved into my internal memory. i have copied it to my pc. will lightning rom wipe off my whole internal memory?

  7. hi jayce just enquire, i had installed Lite’ning ROM v5.0, if i want to install any rom cwm how i need do it ,(my samsung s2 rooted) it is need to wipe,clear cache and use cwm to install it .what to i need to backup thanks.

    Good info up there and tq for sharing with us.i do have few questions to ask.i am just a dumb user that want to try something different with my phone and i do need your help.

    1.Is it possible if i directly root the phone using Odin3 to:

    2.I notice that there is new firmware update by samsung kies from DXKF1 to DXKH2.Should i upgrade the firmware first before root and install Lite’ning?

    3.Which is better,to root the phone or just upgrade from samsung kies.

    kernel ninphetamine 2.1.3…n how do i update to v6.1?or is there no update?enlighten me pls..

    i’m using sg2 gt-i9100g..i got a problem to remove the yellow triangle. i try to buy usb jig for sgs2..but the dealer said its only works on 9100..not 9100g..what should i do?hope u can help me solve my problem.

    I read in one of your post about mobile odin. Can it be used to install any custom rom? I think I am confident enough to do by via odin or cmw but if mobile odin can be used, much better to me. Thanks!

  28. hi im still confused about installing rom i rooted my sgs 2 already and even installed the firmware and kernel already , i also removed the yellow triangle using your method.
    my question is should i just use the mobile odin 1.8.5 and mount it to the pda ?

    I’m still a newbie and i have a few questions. I have Lite’ning Rom v3.2 XXKG2 with nimphetamine-2.0.1 kernel.

    I want to upgrade to the latest version of Lite’ning Rom (v1.1 i guess) :

    – Is there a simple way to do that or do i have to wipe all my data and use Odin ?
    – Is there a software to restore all my personnal data ? (contacts, music, photos, mail, …)
    – The kernel will be updated too if i do the upgrade ?

    • – Not sure this ROM that you mentioned use Odin or CWM to install. Either way, better wipe all data.
      – Backup with Titanium Backup first.
      – Yes.
