How to improve HTC One X battery life?

Reduce display brightness
HTC One X big 4.7″ 720p HD Super LCD2 IPS display is the biggest battery life eater of all. By disable Automatic brightness and set it to the lowest level that you need will improve battery life a lot.

Remove unused widget
The more widget you have, the more battery life will be eaten especially those widgets that use data connection and auto sync based on schedule like HTC Weather. Therefore, only keep those widgets that you really need.

Poor signal decrease battery life
Phone will use more power to increase signal strength. Always make sure that your phone has a good signal reception. Switch to 2G if 3G connection signal is poor at your area.

Turn off 3G data connection, use Wi-Fi
Always gets connected with Wi-Fi when available. 3G data connection eats more battery compare to Wi-Fi connection. Turn off both of them when not needed.

Disable / reduce auto-sync
Data connection eats battery life. Disable or reduce background scheduled auto-sync applications like Gmail, Twitter. And reduce the frequency of auto-sync will also help to improve battery life too.

Turn off Bluetooth & GPS
If you don’t use Bluetooth or GPS, turn them off. Only turn on them when needed.

Disable unused bundle applications
You can freeze HTC bundle software like AMPed 2.0, deF!ND, Mobile TV, My SingTel, SingTel IDEAS and Starhub MUSIC if you don’t need them. Why? They are running as service even you are not using them at all. Please refer to this guide to remove them – How to remove bloatware on HTC One X?

Fully close application that not use
Letting lot of applications running at background actually increase battery usage because they still require CPU processing. So fully close those applications that not needed.

Custom ROM which requires unlocked bootloader helps to improve battery life too. But I am still waiting for S-OFF on HTC One X. Will update this post when I gather more information.

  1. Thanks for the tips Jayce! 😉
Things here aren’t looking better after uprating to 1.29 yesterday, still having a conversation with HTC Tech Support and waiting for a proper answer for the high battery temperatures during workload. Keep up the HTC One X threads up and looking forward for more tips and tweaks because I am new with android(my first android phone I own is th One X).
    Regards,

  2. Hi Jayce,

    Thanks for the tips.
Just wonder how can Endgadget or Slashgear review achieve such a high screen on time (up to 6hrs with 50% brightness). I am only getting 3~4 hrs screen on (auto brightness) when web browsing with 3g connection. How about your experience? Thanks

  3. I think use GSM will save your battery more compare WCDMA/3G/HSDPA, especially the green network keep on bouncing between 3G and HSDPA.
Somehow rather WIFI turn on will get the phone more heat compare to using data on 3G/HSDPA.

  4. Am thinking of buying this HOX but reading the reviews and other complaints i c dat its overheating, battery and wifi issues persist 2 a great extent…
    Please comment…
Its a big investment for me and then if i face issues i hav no where to go.

  5. Hi which is best btwn Samsung galaxy note vs Ht one x.?

Is it battery life of samsung note is good.?
And in HTC One x how to change battery if it get damage or faulty. As we know that these batteries life time may be a few months or years. Then how to replace batteries

    • Both of them are good. Depend on your usage and need.

Samsung Galaxy Note battery life is better than HTC One X.
Need to send back to HTC Support if HTC One X battery is faulty.

Note – unlock HTC One X bootloader void warranty.

  6. b4 i saw this guide i did just a few things that made my battery last upto 48 hours!:
    1. cancel auto sync to any non must have apps , as shown on this guide
    2. disable wifi, Blouetooth and gps when not in use, especially indoors.
    3. make sure not 2 many apps run in background, just a normal one in a while check.
    4. use the minimal, and really sufficlant brightness setting.
    5. make display sleep after 30 secs.
    6. last but definetly not least, charge my phone from AC power and not usB, preferably at night, and while its off.
do these stepps and u’ll notice a huge diffrence with any moderate use.
    Good luck!

  7. Hai
I would like to ask when i using my phone in my house, the signal always show E instead of 3G or H.
Is it because the digi line is poor? Or the phone problem? Or should i change the setting of mobile network to “only WCDMA”?
Previously my setting is “GSM / WCDMA Auto”.
My sis is using Digi data plan on galaxy note and she does not face this problem.

Hope to get ur reply. Thanks!
