The best 64GB micro SD card for Galaxy Note 3

Which 64GB micro SD card is the best for Samsung Galaxy Note 3? Yes, 32GB Galaxy Note 3 model is not enough for me. The internal storage is for large size Android games. And photos and videos are meant to store on external SD card. Don’t forget the storage-hungry Ultra HD 4K video recording too. Okay, let’s wait no more. Here are the contenders – 64GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC (41 MB/s read & 14 MB/s write), 64GB Samsung microSDXC Pro (76 MB/s read & 20 MB/s write) and 64GB SanDisk Extreme microSDXC (86 MB/s read & 61 MB/s write). Which one will provide the best performance and value on Galaxy Note 3? Let’s find out…

Galaxy Note 3 does not support UHS-I standard yet. Therefore, all 3 cards do not manage to get their maximum read and write speed on Galaxy Note 3. And score much lower than they should be. SanDisk Extreme comes out as the winner, follow by Samsung Pro and SanDisk Ultra at last. SanDisk Extreme performance is very near as Samsung Pro but almost double the price. SanDisk Ultra is $10 cheaper than Samsung Pro.

As a result, 64GB Samsung microSDXC Pro is the best performance / value micro SD card on Galaxy Note 3. And 64GB SanDisk Extreme microSDXC is your choice if you have lot of file to transfer from PC (you need to use USB 3.0 card reader to get maximum transfer speed).

  1. Although the samsung is the best in your opinion in terms of speed per price, if you wanted the fastest sd card you can buy for the fastest most advanced phone in the world, The Note 3 (which records 4k, a world first, and has micro usb 3.0 for faster charging & file transfers, another world first), then the Sandisk Exreme is the best card. Fastest write then all the other cards, as well as fastest read, therefor you will get the best possible experience out of that sd card…nothing against the Samsung pro but the extreme has been benchmarked using 3.0 at about 91MB read and 61 write (thats almost 100MB!! read) by the guys over at legitreviews, which destroys the Pro…the Sandisk Extreme, touted as the fastest MicroSD card in the world by Sandisk themselves, is the proper choice, you can find it for around $100, currently $83 on Ebay…

    • Actually, you’re wrong. There’s an even faster version of SanDisk’s card, that is Extreme Pro πŸ˜‰ IIRC it’s 95 Mb/s read and 90 Mb/s write, plus the usual stats.

      • actually, you’re wrong, the Extreme Pro only comes in two variants, 8gb and 16gb, we are talking 64gb here, which does make the SanDisk Extreme 64gb the fastest largest micro SD card for the note 3…game.set.match

  2. Unbelievable that the Galaxy Note 3 does not support UHS-I standard..

As I understand it is no use buying expensive microSDXC cards like the above mentioned cards..

For a Phone like the Note 3 (4k recording) it is even sad…

    • It’s best to buy the SanDisk Extreme Plus as it’s the fastest 64GB card around. You’ll be future proofing. So, whenever you get your next device, which does support the UHS-I/UHS-II standard, you won’t have to buy a new card.

  3. I bought 64GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I Class 10 Card for my Note 3. When I put in the phone, the phone can’t detect it. What is the problem and how to solve it?

    tq

  4. I’m at office now. This evening I will try other card at home. If other card also can’t detect, what is the problem?

  5. Can it handle a 128 GB card? if so which is the best? if not I’d still like to know the best for my surface πŸ˜‰ thanks

  6. So just wondering if anyone know if uhs-1 is supported yet on the note 3 for Verizon N900v? Got the kitkat update but even Verizon reps don’t know.
