Yes. I won the first stage. How? The is a big bug in ORT 6. Engineer in Oregon took more than 1 month to solve. And yet to solve it. Finally, their manager sent an email to me, CC some manager over here, Kulim, say that, “TW Ooi, you are the main owner for ORT… We need your support and assistance on it” I was shocked when I received the email. I did not expect that manager will send email to me. On the same day, Jeff also sent an email to me for support on that big bug issue.
Actually, I should be the owner since last year (Was the owner for few days then they took back again. No black and white back then. But now got). I am just a new guy with less expose to all the manager. They still do not know how deep is my skill. Therefore, they did not dare to give this big project to me to handle alone. Finally, after 2 years working there. I am the ORT owner finally. I admit that I will still face pressure from Oregon but I am not afraid at all. The only thing that I am scare of is my own laziness. he… he…

Working in multi national company (MNC) is like fighting in war. Why? Everyone need to fight to get a good project, good performance review, good increase in salary and a lot more… Especially in my company, there are performance review every year. You will get stock grant and increase in your pay if good performance. Else you will get the other way around, nothing. Why company do that? It have good sides and bad. Good - everyone will try as hard as possible to fight for the gain. Bad - too much competition is not a good idea when own teammate fight to own a project, people become selfish.
Why like that? It is because sure got someone in the team will get nothing during performance review. Yes, no stock and no salary increase. That is very bad. Therefore, most of us will try our best to fight for it. But it depend… Like me, I don’t like to fight for these. As long as I can gain knowledge from my work, I am happy. 
I work as information system engineer. Besides that I am also a ASP.NET web programmer. We need multiple skills in order to survive in this world. I used to develop web application when no issue reported to support. Life without issue is good. However, we will not see that in the real world.
