Lite’ning ROM is one of the famous custom firmware for Samsung Galaxy S II. It can be your very first custom ROM because it is installed through Odin instead of ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM). Lite’ning ROM v5.0 is based on official XXKG6 firmware Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread. And it is rooted with CF-Root (ClockworkMod Recovery, CWM Manager, Superuser and BusyBox are added), zipaligned and deodexed. It is blue themed, memory and kernel are tweaked. GO Launcher EX is added too. Therefore, you can select between stock TouchWiz Launcher and Go Launcher EX.

hey jayce. question. just bought SGS2 and still not rooted. so many question running to my head.

    1. Difference of ROM/MOD/Kernel/Firmware?
    2. Difference of CF-Rooting and SuperOneClick Procedure?
    3. Do I need to root first before installing the Lite’ning?

I watched all your movies and been searching some procedure yet i don’t know what process i will use. X.x

    2.3.3 GingerBread.XWKF1

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

      1. You need to read them one by one.
      2. I don’t use SuperOneClick. So no comment.
      3. No.

I am using the same firmware as yours – XWKF1. Therefore, everything posted by me should work for you too. :)

      • Forsythe

thanks for the reply. really appreciate it. :D

yes I saw your vid its the same firmware as mine. XD

when I go to xda-developers. I cant choose what to use. they are in [ROM] and [MOD]. im just confuse. some of you’re procedure needs kernel or need firmware. haha.

        sorry and thanks Jayce. T.T

What do you want to do?

          • Forsythe

i just want to know the difference about the said above to know what I need to search for. like the difference about the Stock Kernel to Stock Firmware. haha. so confuse. @_@

            • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

              ROM == firmware.
              MOD == modification on firmware
Kernel == the main component of Android OS

Sorry right now I don’t have USB Jig. I was referring on your link

hai jayce.. is there any latest version of litening rom for sgs2?
i am using litening rom 6.1 now.i noticed that 2.3.5 gingerbread is out now.

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

v6.1 should be the latest. You can other custom ROM like CheckROM RevolutionHD that I am using now. Better in my opinion. ;)

      • pakdin

thanks bro… i will try it..

        • pakdin

          hello jayce..

          Please advice bro..

  • fey

    hi jayce,
i’m using sg2 gt-i9100g..i got a problem to remove the yellow triangle. i try to buy usb jig for sgs2..but the dealer said its only works on 9100..not 9100g..what should i do?hope u can help me solve my problem.

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

I9100G might use new bootloader which USB Jig won’t work on it. USB Jig won’t work on latest I9100 firmware with new bootloader too.
Try to ask others with I9100G at https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2068824
I have no idea since I have no I9100G. Sorry…

  • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

@POOKEDANDY: Try to use app that require root access like Titanium Backup. If cannot use == no root access.

  • POOKEDANDY

    Hi

it says in titanium back up that I need to allow the application in SuperUser?… what does it mean my phone is rooted?

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

Yes, if it is working properly.

  • POOKEDANDY

I see….. now my phone is rooted :(

    thanks for the answer…

  • POOKEDANDY

    Hi

I just got back from stock firmware which is 2.3.4 XXKG5 do you have a tutorial for installing this

    thanks!

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

      CheckROM RevolutionHD v1.

  • POOKEDANDY

    Hi…

how to know if its version 1 in checkrom revHD?

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312240

I can’t find the version 1 in that link

    thanks

  • Nad

    Hi Jayce,

I read in one of your post about mobile odin. Can it be used to install any custom rom? I think I am confident enough to do by via odin or cmw but if mobile odin can be used, much better to me. Thanks!

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

I believe it support firmware in tar and .tar.md5 format only. So if the custom ROM is in that format, then okay.

  • grimaxebarker

hi im still confused about installing rom i rooted my sgs 2 already and even installed the firmware and kernel already , i also removed the yellow triangle using your method.
my question is should i just use the mobile odin 1.8.5 and mount it to the pda ?
    thx

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

I did not use Mobile Odin. No idea it can install custom ROM or not. Please consult Mobile Odin developer.

  • praveen

Hey jayce what about litening rom 6.1? Please add a review.

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

This is an old Android ROM. Try out the latest one out there.

  • Myssa

    Hello,

    I’m still a newbie and i have a few questions. I have Lite’ning Rom v3.2 XXKG2 with nimphetamine-2.0.1 kernel.

I want to upgrade to the latest version of Lite’ning Rom (v1.1 i guess) :

    – Is there a simple way to do that or do i have to wipe all my data and use Odin ?
    – Is there a software to restore all my personnal data ? (contacts, music, photos, mail, …)
    – The kernel will be updated too if i do the upgrade ?

Thanks a lot for your answers :)

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

      - Not sure this ROM that you mentioned use Odin or CWM to install. Either way, better wipe all data.
      – Backup with Titanium Backup first.
      – Yes.

        Pls reply

        • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce Ooi

Hi Pak ya, this is for I9100 only. Try to find I9500G ROM at XDA Forum.

          • Pak ya

Yaa i checked almost all the Roms that is compatible. Jelly Bam, Slimbean e.t.c but Litening is the one that i really admired. Eventhough it`s kinda old stuff.
