How to install firmware on Samsung Galaxy Note II with Odin software? Yes, don’t limit yourself with OTA software update and Samsung Kies firmware upgrade. Prerequisites

  • Odin3
  • Firmware

Note – You should not face any issue when upgrading to newer official firmware. And your applications and data will be intact (leaked firmware might delete them all). However, you will need to factory reset when you downgrade firmware to older version (if face boot loop issue). Therefore, make sure do a backup before install new firmware.

Step by Step Guide

  1. Power off Samsung Galaxy Note 2.
  2. Press and hold down Volume Down + Home + Power buttons at the same time.
  3. Press Volume Up button when warning prompt.
  4. Odin download mode will be loaded.
  5. Connect USB cable to your Galaxy Note 2.
  6. At PC, extract firmware .tar (or .tar.md5) file that you downloaded to Firmware folder.
  7. Then bring up Odin3.
  8. Click on PDA.
  9. Select the .tar (or .tar.md5) at Firmware folder.
  10. Click Start then.
  11. Remove USB cable from SGN2 when you see green PASS! at Odin3.
  12. That’s all.

    Hello Mr. Jayce Ooi , I followed the same steps as you did on the video but Odin sends me a ” Fail ” message and now my galaxy note 2 can’t get even open ( just on the download mode it does). Any solutions? please help

    Hello.. if I use odin3 for my note 2 to change the firmware. So my phone status will show modified or normal? And I could update my note 2 via kies and OTA??? Sorry for my English.. thanks 4 ur help..

      Normal for official firmware. Modified for custom one. Only official one can get updated with Samsung Kies and OTA.

    hi.. i downgrade my firmware from 4.2.2 to 4.1.2 sinced i observed that my note is difficult for me, but after i downgrade my firmware, my note just keep coming out the screen logo, and never laucned the home screen.. any help?

      Hi hannah, try factory reset with recovery.

    Hi! I formatted my phone by my own stupid mistake…
    Like totally formatted and yes even firmware too…
    It was a rooted before that… Now all m left with is nothing in my phone..
    All get is team win settings page when I press power home and volume up key.
    Can’t restore from recovery as thr is nothing to recover from!!

      Just use the latest version for your country.
