How to install update zip with ClockworkMod Recovery on Samsung Galaxy S3? (Video)

58

After installed ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM) on Samsung Galaxy S III, you need to try custom mod like theme, boot animation, application, modem, kernel and ROM. Else you are wasting the full potential of CWM on Samsung Galaxy S3. It is simple to install them as all you need to do is copy the update zip file to SD card. Then install it with CWM. No PC or Mac is needed. However, not every custom build zip is friendly to Samsung Galaxy S3. Therefore, be sure to make a full system backup with CWM before apply any update zip. Just restore to previous backup image if anything went wrong. Check out below step by step video guide to learn more…

Step by Step Guide

  1. First of all, copy the update zip file that you want to install into SD card.
  2. Turn off Samsung Galaxy S3.
  3. Press and hold Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time.
  4. Release all buttons when you see SGS3 Logo.
  5. ClockworkMod Recovery will be loaded then.
  6. Go to install zip from sdcard with Volume Up / Down buttons.
  7. Select it with Power (or Home) button.
  8. Then select choose zip from sdcard.
  9. Select your update zip file (XXALE8_AB_2.zip in my video).
  10. Select Yes – Install your update zip file.
  11. After installation finished, select +++++Go Back+++++.
  12. Then select reboot system now.
  13. That’s all.

Enjoy your new installed custom mod on Samsung Galaxy S3.

Thank you! Does this package have the complete set (theme, boot animation, application, modem, kernel and ROM) or only the auto-bright thing?
I have a S3 with baseband I9300XXALE8. Do I have chances to brick the dispositive with this update? Is it hard to restore a CWM backup?
I’m sorry for the ton of questions, i’m a noob in this world ^^

        Thanks a lot

        • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

          Auto brightness mod only.
It is hard to brick Samsung smartphone. Not hard to make a CWM restore. Just refer to my guides.

          • Juan Luis

Ahm, i’m sorry, I mistunderstood your post. I thought there was more packages in the update you show on your video.
Could you tell me where can be found the custom mods like theme, applications, system optimization, better kernel and ROMs?
Do you have some in your guides? I’ve been searching but I haven’t found anything so far. Thanks for the great help! You have an awesome blog.
