Samsung T220 or Samsung 2253BW 22″ LCD monitor

Continued from SAPPHIRE HD 4870 512MB GDDR5 PCI-E

LCD monitor… Which LCD monitor should I choose? By the way, I am using Samsung 2253BW 22″ LCD monitor at office. I don’t face any problem with it on daily office works. However, does is perform well in games? Movie? I did not try that in the office. 😛 There is another new LCD monitor from Samsung. It is Samsung T220 LCD monitor. Its outlook is better and Contrast Ratio is higher – 20,000 compare to 2253BW – 8,000. Of course, the price is higher too. As for the other specifications, they are almost the same.

I studied a lot of reviews about LCD monitor. Plan to go for 24″ LCD monitor with HDMI connection. 24″ LCD monitor is full HD 1920 x 1200 px (WUXGA) while 22″ LCD monitor is 1680 x 1050 px only. Thinking of invest a good LCD monitor for full HD movie and gaming. However, the pricing and technology stop me. There are LCD panel technologies like TN Film, S-IPS, MVA and PVA in the market now. 24″ LCD monitor with TN Film panel is cheap and have fast response but the viewing angle is low. PVA panel response is slow and expensive but has a great viewing angle. S-IPS panel response rate is better than PVA but the price is higher. It is out of my budget to go for 24″ LCD monitor with S-IPS panel. Besides, larger LCD monitor requires more powerful 3D processing unit. I will need to change SAPPHIRE HD 4870 512MB GDDR5 PCI-E to a better card like SAPPHIRE HD 4870 X2 2GB GDDR5 PCI-E in order to play well in 1920 x 1200 px resolution. That will cost me lot of money.

Therefore, I will stick to 22″ LCD monitor for the moment. Will definitely change to full HD LCD monitor in the future.
