Garmin Nuvi 200W can use tracking function now. You did not read it wrong. Yes, Garmin Nuvi 200W can record tracks right now. Its smaller brother Garmin Nuvi 200 can record tracks long time ago with certain firmware like v3.40. However, Garmin Nuvi 200W does not. But it changed after I received call from my friend, CC. He told me that someone created several firmware patches to enable tracking function. Thanks everyone who contributed it. Anyway, I did not use the tracking function yet. Why? I wanted to track my housing area last year because there are not map at my housing area. However, some nice guys already contributed the tracks. My housing area is in the latest January Malaysia maps already.
By the way, not all Garmin Nuvi 200W model can use the firmware patches. It works on certain HWID like 0737 and 0835 for Garmin Nuvi 200W while HWID 0660 and 0834 for Garmin Nuvi 200. It is easy to update the firmware patches. I used method 3 to upgrade. Use this link to download the firmware patches for Garmin Nuvi 200/200W. There are guides to update too.

Warning, Seagate Barracuda 7200.11, DiamondMax 22, Barracuda ES.2 SATA hard drive owners. Yes, this is a very serious warning coming out from Seagate itself. Because your hard drive might become inaccessible when you power up your PC system. I got an error comment from an anonymous on January 11th, 2009. At first, I thought just an anti-Seagate wondering around and doing some damages to Seagate branding. However, I changed my mind after seeing this announcement.

Oh no… My hard drive is on the list!
