Want to try the latest and greatest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on Samsung Galaxy S III? You are in luck today. XDA Developer, Faryaab created an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean ROM for Samsung Galaxy S3 from Galaxy Nexus Jelly Bean OTA. And it is using modified CM9 Kernel. One thing to take note. This is a very early build. So far on the first version that I tried. These functions are working ~ ADB, touchscreen, hardware acceleration, notification LED, cellular radio (but no audio so no calls), physical buttons, SMS, accelerometer and charging. There rest of the stuffs is not working like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, audio, camera, MTP, storage… Anyway, you can give it a try and have a feel of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on Samsung Galaxy S3. Note – don’t try it with external SD card plug in. Else it will be corrupted.

Not enough internal USB storage disk space on Samsung Galaxy Series smartphone like Galaxy S II, Galaxy Note and Galaxy S III? There is around 11 GB internal USB storage disk (sdcard) on Samsung Galaxy S3 (16 GB version). And some of you might face running out of sdcard disk space issue sooner. Even with external micro SD card, you can’t install applications and games directly on it. Luckily, you can move applications and games data to external micro SD card with Directory Bind. Note – root access is needed.

How to increase Samsung Galaxy S III speaker volume to maximum? Samsung Galaxy S3 speaker is not loud enough for you even on default maximum volume? Then you need to try out this Samsung Galaxy S3 audio hack. This modification will make Samsung Galaxy S3 speaker volume as loud as it can in Ringtones, Messages, Videos, Music Player and other applications… In-Call volume is louder too in earpiece and speakerphone mode. And it might increase maximum volume for headset, Bluetooth, analogue dock, digital AUX and FM radio too. Try it to find out. Note – Root access is needed.

How to install firmware on Samsung Galaxy S III? There are several ways to install firmware on Samsung Galaxy S3 no matter official or custom firmware in tar (or .tar.md5) format. Personally, I still prefer to install Samsung Galaxy S3 firmware with Odin. No need to wait for official firmware release through OTA and Samsung Kies. I can install leaked Samsung Galaxy S3 firmware with Odin. Or try out other region firmware.

Prerequisites

• Odin3
• Firmware

Note – You should not face any issue when upgrading to newer official firmware. Your applications and data will be intact. However, you will need to factory reset when you downgrade firmware to older version because you might face boot loop issue. Therefore, make sure you make a backup before install new firmware.

You can upgrade Samsung Galaxy S III firmware through OTA method. However, you might not get OTA notification about new upgrade. And “no update available” prompted when you checked for update manually. No worry, there is another official way to upgrade Samsung Galaxy S3 firmware ~ through Samsung Kies. Basically, just launch Samsung Kies application at PC or Mac. Then plug in USB cable to your Samsung Galaxy S3. Continue the firmware upgrade by follow the onscreen instructions. Still don’t get it?
