Windows Phone is not my cup of tea. Well, it still can’t impress me. Still lack of apps and games when compare to iOS and Android. Maybe I will back to Windows when Microsoft combines both Windows for desktop and phone into one OS. Until then, Android is still my top choice. But this may not apply to some of you, just me. So there are Windows Phone 7.8 ROMs (still no public WP8 ROM yet) for HTC HD2. Pdaimatejam ROM is based on WP7.8 OS 7.10.8862.144. Basically, it is ported from Nokia Lumia 900. So you can see Nokia applications (Nokia Drive, Maps, Music) and features there. Windows Phone is all from Nokia mainly now, right? And the very important stuff ~ it has automatic activation code for Windows Live.

Wow… The legendary HTC HD2 is still alive and kicking. HTC HD2 may not able to get Windows Phone 8 Apollo update. But you can enjoy WP7.8 ROM (OS version 7.10.8835.35) on HTC HD2 now. And it is fully unlocked. Of course it is loaded with other goodies like Ultrashot Root Manager, WM Device Center, USB Video, Nokia Camera Extras, Nokia Drive… Personally, I still prefer Android over Windows Phone. But there is lot of HTC HD2 owners who love Windows Phone will like to download and install this WP7.8 ROM for their HTC HD2.

I still don’t have Windows Phone 7 activation code from Microsoft until now (failed to get it when WP7 launched on HTC HD2, and don’t bother to get it now too). Therefore, I cannot access to Windows Marketplace officially. However, that does not stop me from testing WP7 applications because I can unlock / jailbreak WP7 and sideload apps into it. I tested on Windows Phone 7.5 build 7720 XBmod-Yuki ROM and manage to install custom applications with Multiple Xap Installer and Tom XAP Installer. Not sure this will work on other native WP7 phones or not. Try it out if you want…

Can’t detect your SD card at PC after installed Windows Phone 7? Windows Phone 7 build 7004 XBmod-Yuki ROM v2 will encrypt SD card and make it like a real WP7 phone. Therefore, your SD card is locked. And can’t be detected at all. How to unlock and revive SD card after install Windows Phone 7? You need to install StorageLock in WP7. Then use it to unlock the SD card. Or lock it if you want. After unlocked, you will see 2 partitions on your SD card. You may delete both of them and create FAT32 file type partition so that you can use the SD card again on PC, Android or Windows Mobile. Just follow below step by step guide to do so…
Note – only perform these tasks when you don’t want to use WP7 anymore. Or want to dual boot WP7 and Android (note – just unlock and don’t delete any partition). Else just skip these…

The best part for Windows Phone 7 on HTC HD2 ~ 720p video recording. However, the built-in camera application will capture VGA size video by default. And you need to change it to 720p every time you launch it. Haha… This problem solved with the help of SHCameraApp. SHCameraApp is a camera application for HTC HD2 with full resolution up to 5MP and auto-focus & touch focus support. Furthermore, you can save camera settings for photo and video. So no more changing to 720p manually.
