Viral – Alternative YouTube app for Nexus 7 (2013)

I don’t like latest YouTube application on Android. Why? The last few versions have serious video quality issue. You can easily spot on 1080p screen like Nexus 7 (2013). Therefore, I uninstalled all the updates and use back the stock YouTube version. However, after upgraded to Android 4.4 KitKat. The stock one was replaced with this poor quality version. So no more nice music video for me until I discover Viral. Basically, it is a YouTube app with pop-up video feature. Not perfect on Nexus 7 (2013) as it still have soft navigation bar even on full screen mode. But at least the video quality is better than stock YouTube on 720p.

Force shut down Google Nexus 7 (2013)

Your Google Nexus 7 (2013) is not responsive or hangs? Touch screen is not working at all. No display too (by the way, your Nexus 7 might not have battery power if no display when power on. So just connect power source to it in this case.) Same apply to power and volume buttons. No worry, you still can recover your new Nexus 7 back to normal.

Wanam Kit – Customize Android 4.4 KitKat Nexus Stock ROM

XDA Developer, wanam has a nice customization tool for Samsung firmwares – Wanam Xposed. And he has another one which will do the same great stuffs for Nexus (AOSP) ROM – Wanam Kit. It will let you customize Android 4.4 KitKat AOSP stock ROM. Good for Nexus devices like Nexus 4, 5 and 7 (2013)… As usual, it requires root access and Xposed Framework 2.4. Loaded with few features like enable numeric battery, change colour and typeface of the battery text, skip music with volume buttons in this very first release. Rest assures that more features will come.

Yummy… I love to eat Nestle Kit Kat. Still waiting for Android 4.4 KitKat OTA Update for your Nexus 7 (both 2012 and 2013 models)? Wait no more and install the OTA update (KRT16O) manually now. Yup, enjoy the actual Kit Kat and Android 4.4 KitKat. However, you need to have some technical skills – about sideloading. Else just wait for your turn to get it. You should be getting it in this week or next. There is OTA Update for Nexus 10 as well. But Nexus 4 still missing in action.
