Internet is part of our life now. Most of us cannot live without get connected. We surf Internet for information, playing games at Facebook, watching video at YouTube… Lot of interesting stuffs can be done with Internet. And 3G mobile broadband is becoming a norm now. There are 2 type of 3G mobile broadband ~ USB modem and mobile phone. Both of them have different pricing. I am going to cover 3G mobile broadband for mobile phone only now. Why? Most of the smart phones like HTC HD2 can be acted as 3G modem. There is no need to subscribe another package for home usage if you are using it alone. There are 3 main 3G mobile broadband providers in Malaysia ~ Celcom, Maxis and DiGi. Let’s see how they perform…

SetCPU ~ CPU overclocking, underclocking & tweaking speeds for rooted Android phone

Overclocking is not a stranger to me. I overclocked my old Intel Core2 Extreme quad-core processor QX9650 to 3.6 GHz. And I can overclock my HTC HD2 with SetCPU’s help too. SetCPU is CPU speed tweaking application for Android. In details, it allows control of certain aspects of the Linux cpufreq driver by allowing for overclocking, underclocking and tweaking speeds. It works on most rooted Android 1.5, 1.6, 2.0, 2.1, 2.2 builds.

Internet connection is a must for most of us nowadays. I cannot survive without Internet as I need to blog to make a living. There are 3 main broadband providers in Malaysia which are Celcome, Maxis and DiGi. I am so lucky to have a chance to test Maxis Wireless Broadband that I grab from my brother in law. He just subscribed to Maxis Wireless Broadband to cover his job need as a sales manager and got a free USB modem during the promotion.

How to speed up Streamyx connection?

Oh no… Slow Streamyx connection again? Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) wishes to announce that its consortium members have detected a cable fault on the Southeast Asia-Middle East-Western Europe 4 (SMW4) submarine cable network between Alexandria in Egypt and Palermo in Italy linking Malaysia to Europe and the United States (link). In this case, connection within Malaysia servers is still okay but no no when you try load oversea websites.

How to speed up Streamyx connection? That’s the question that I ask myself. All my blogs are hosted in US. And the performance is very bad now. Err…

Well, the first thing that I will do. Turn on the Streamyx proxy server on my Firefox browser (no proxy by default). This will speed up a lot because it will load the website from the proxy server. And only will load the website from its original server (let’s say located in US) if proxy server don’t have the cache.

Yes, I just turn on the Streamyx proxy server mode. Streamyx connection speed does improve some. Try it for yourself.
