Download latest firmware for Aztech DSL600EW

My 5 years old Aztech DSL600EW ADSL2+ 4-Port Ethernet USB Wireless-G Router stopped working after I upgraded my Streamyx connection speed from 1 Mbps to 4 Mbps. It serves me well for the past few years. Initially, I thought something might be wrong from TM Streamyx part because Aztech DSL600EW DSL light started to blink and always get disconnected after changed to 4 Mbps port. Contacted TM support and TM appointed installer for this issue. And finally found that my Aztech DSL600EW cannot support 4 Mbps connection. Why? The new Innacomm W3400V WiFi Modem managed to get connected to Internet.

Free Innacomm W3400V WiFi Modem from TM Streamyx

Finally, 4 Mbps Streamyx is available at my place. I requested to upgrade early this year but no luck. I was still using RM 88 Streamyx 1 Mbps package then. Then I saw TM Blockbuster Deal which is a very interesting package for those who are still using the old separated voice and broadband plan like me. This combo package is a lot cheaper than my existing one. And you can have free call to all TM fixed line nationwide. Furthermore, you can get WiFi modem and cordless phone for free too. Isn’t that great? (Note – minimum 12 months subscription period is required. Not an issue to me at all)

How to speed up Streamyx connection?

Oh no… Slow Streamyx connection again? Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) wishes to announce that its consortium members have detected a cable fault on the Southeast Asia-Middle East-Western Europe 4 (SMW4) submarine cable network between Alexandria in Egypt and Palermo in Italy linking Malaysia to Europe and the United States (link). In this case, connection within Malaysia servers is still okay but no no when you try load oversea websites.

How to speed up Streamyx connection? That’s the question that I ask myself. All my blogs are hosted in US. And the performance is very bad now. Err…

Well, the first thing that I will do. Turn on the Streamyx proxy server on my Firefox browser (no proxy by default). This will speed up a lot because it will load the website from the proxy server. And only will load the website from its original server (let’s say located in US) if proxy server don’t have the cache.

Yes, I just turn on the Streamyx proxy server mode. Streamyx connection speed does improve some. Try it for yourself.

Fix TM Net Streamyx throttle issue with Hotspot Shield ~ AnchorFree

Malaysia TM Net Streamyx users are facing slow connection speed due to throttle implementation on certain file types download. There are several ways to fix this throttle issue. We can use proxy server and VPN to bypass it. I tried several proxy servers but can’t solve the issue. Seem like the only way is to use VPN. There are free and paid VPN out there. So far, I tried free UltraVPN and Hide My IP 5.0 trial. Both of them are not working for me. And finally found Hotspot Shield from AnchorFree that is working fine. It is free but an adware.
