Edifier WH500 comes well protected. Once opened, you can find the headphones itself, USB-C charging cable, safety info and user manual in multiple languages.
Build quality is excellent for the price. Loaded with smooth and solid plastic frame. It has matte surface by the way. And 3 colours to choose from – black, white and light blue. Ultra lightweight at 172g only.
All the stuff is located at the right ear cup. Control buttons, LED light indicator and USB-C charging port, microphone are there.
Compact with convenient foldable design. Easy to store and carry with you indeed.
Fit, Comfort & Isolation
It is a pleasure to wear Edifier WH500 for long hours comfortably. All thanks to super lightweight body. Ultra soft padded rotatable earcups, adjustable and flexible well cushioned headband helps too. Great for long hours of gameplay, movie watching and music listening no doubt. Surprisingly, it is performing well in noise isolation even as on-ear headphones. It does block some environment noises.
Software
Edifier Connect is the mobile application that you want to install. Available on both iOS and Android. It unlocks several features that are not available through the headphones’ hardware button. First of all, safe volume. It helps to set the maximum volume at 85dB. So no worry about hearing damage for kids or yourself.
The best part – you can select the EQ preset that you prefer and even customize it. There are classic which provides balanced sound. And dynamic that gives you better low and high. Of course, customize the 4 frequency bands to suit your taste. FYI, it will store the EQ in the headphones’ memory then. No software is needed anymore. Great, right?
Performance Result
Outstanding Bluetooth 5.2 range! One of the best Bluetooth devices that I have tested so far. Easily connect up to 10m with obstacles like walls. Connection is very stable too. Furthermore, it has ultra-low latency of 80ms thanks to game mode. Rest assured that audio and video are virtually in-sync. Perfect for movie, music video and games no doubt.
Based on specs, you can enjoy up to 40 hours of music playback. Outstanding battery life indeed. There is battery indicator status on Android devices. iOS devices should have it too. And only requires 2 hours to fully charge.
Excellent phone call experience. Thanks to microphone with noise cancelling technology to produce crystal-clear call and quality audio. In short, others can hear me loud and clear. The same applies to me too.
Sound Quality
Small driver doesn’t sound great, right? Well, this is not totally correct. And big is not always better too. Edifier WH500 is loaded with 30mm composite dynamic driver (PEEK＋PU). Small but it is well-tuned. Therefore, you can enjoy balanced sound output from treble, mid and bass. In addition, you can adjust the EQ to suit your preference through Edifier Connect App too.
Classic EQ does provide balanced sound signature. The highs are clean and clear. Crisp with no harshness at all. Mids are performing very well too. Edifier always has warm touch on the vocals. So they sound natural and nice. Bass is there even as on-ear headphones. You can feel the bass bumping here and there. Powerful and deep for on-ear. As for the soundstage, it is wide. Therefore, you can clearly identify the musical instruments’ placement. In short, it is a pleasure to use WH500 for games, music and movie.
