Design & Build Quality
Outstanding build quality as expected. HyperX by HP never lets me down. Yes, all thanks to sturdy full aircraft-grade aluminum body housing. Due to that, it does add some weight even compact in size. In short, rock-solid. The 65% form factor frees up more space for mouse movement than a tenkeyless keyboard. And yet keeps dedicated arrow keys, page up/down, home and delete keys. In addition, all the keycaps are double shot PBT. Some come with side-printed secondary functions. By the way, they are loaded with textured surface unlike previous HyperX models with smooth surface. This gives you more grip in return no doubt. As usual, all the letters can be clearly seen even without LED backlit. No light indicator but the Caps Lock will have static colour when turned on. The same applies to Win lock.

At the bottom, there are high quality anti-skid pads including 4 on keyboard legs. The keyboard feet have two-step adjustments for three different angle settings at 3°, 7° and 11°. Therefore, just pick the one that makes your wrists the most comfortable. Furthermore, the anti-skid pads do provide strong grip and stability even in small size. You need to apply quite some force in order to move the keyboard.

Have a closer look at the USB-C port and keyboard feet. You can’t miss the super bright LED lights too. Oh, by the way, the keyboard feet are at the highest height setting at 11° now.

And here is the 7° mode. Minimalistic compact design, right?

Software
HyperX NGENUITY is no stranger to me. It is software that unlocks the full potential of your HyperX devices. It allows you to personalize all compatible HyperX products. Yup, you can adjust the lighting effects from wave to triggered effects like flame, explosion, fade and so on. Or pick the normal ones like breathing, confetti and solid. Animation speed and brightness can be set as well. Totally up to you.

Up to 3 profiles can be stored on the onboard memory. Once you set all the button bindings, macros and customize lighting, you can take Origins 65 with you on the go. HyperX NGENUITY is no longer needed anymore. Everything is stored in the keyboard onboard memory. Cool, right?

Performance Result
There are 2 types of switches for HyperX Alloy Origins 65 – Red and Aqua. So just pick the one that suits you most. HyperX Aqua key switches are tactile-style switches. They are almost like Cherry MX Brown switches. They have a slight bump in their travel path that helps gives the user confirmation of a key press. FYI, HyperX Red is linear-style switch. Aqua falls between red and blue. It does not have noisy clicking sound like the common clicky blue switches. Personally, I like Aqua the most. Followed by Red and the last is the Blue. Anyway, this is totally personal taste and preferences. And do check out more information of the switches’ specs at HyperX website.

N-key rollover support and 100% anti-ghosting. Yes, every single key that is pressed on the keyboard will be registered correctly. Never miss any key presses from now on. In addition, the Windows key is disabled once Game Mode is enabled. You can also disable other combo keys like Alt + Tab, Alt + F4, Shift + Tab and Ctrl + Esc as well. No worry about accidental interruption during intensive gaming anymore.

Yup, you still can access a lot of function keys even with 65% form factor. As you can see, all the secondary functions are printed on side of the keycaps. Just press FN key and the function key that you want will do. An additional key press but you have a lot more room for your mouse in return. And much smaller to carry around with you easily.

I have tested a lot of keyboard brands. And HyperX still gives me the best lighting effects so far. Super bright and colourful thanks to exposed LED design. Smooth and nice animations. Up to 4 brightness levels and can be turned off too. They are bright enough to use during the day. Outstanding in low light environment. See them yourself. Rest assured that they will level up your gaming experience.
