Great news, XBMC lovers (including me). You can enjoy your favourite XBMC media player on Android phone and tablet from now on. So far, only software decode of audio and video are supported until universal hardware decode is ready. But it is still okay to play low bit rate video smoothly. However, do take note that current XBMC skins have been designed for use on bigger screen like PC, TV. So navigation on phone with 720p HD display like Samsung Galaxy S III requires ‘special’ skill. But no worry, with XBMC opened source code, we should get a better and stale version at Google Play Store soon…

To buy or not to buy Asus Transformer Prime?

To buy or not to buy Asus Transformer Prime TF201? That’s the question… The main point that I plan to buy Asus Transformer Prime ~ NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor. I want to try out Tegra 3 games. And plan to use it as notebook replacement since it has keyboard dock. It has micro HDMI output which I can use it to display PowerPoint slides with projector (need to buy micro HDMI to VGA adapter though). Has USB ports and SD carder just like notebook. It should be able to run all the notebook tasks, right? Let’s find out…

Android-x86 Project’s Android 4.0 ICS supports AMD Brazos platform, ASUS Laptops / Tablets, ASUS Eee PC family, Lenovo s103t tablet and Tega v2 (Atom N455 tablet). Feel free to try it out if you don’t have anyone of them. It might still working on your system.

I don’t have Android tablet until I got myself an Amazon Kindle Fire. The Android tablet interface is not the same like Android phone. But you don’t need to buy an Android tablet to find out. Because you can enable tablet mode in ParanoidDroid Hybrid ICS ROM for Samsung Galaxy S II. With ParanoidDroid Hybrid ICS ROM, you can enjoy best of both worlds ~ phone and tablet. Hmm… This ROM should be better on Samsung Galaxy Note with bigger and higher resolution screen. Because things are little bit small on Samsung Galaxy S2 screen. But no harm to it out too. And check out AROMA Installer too. You will love it.
