CyanogenMod 7.1 is out. CyanogenMod is an aftermarket firmware based on open-source Android operating system. It is a light and fast Android ROM for my HTC HD2. If you want the latest Android version, CM is the one that you want to get. There are stable mod, experimental mod and nightly build for you to play with. And good news for Samsung Galaxy S II users because official CyanogenMod support for the Samsung Galaxy S II was added in CyanogenMod 7.1.

Oh, there is no official CM support for HTC HD2. You need to wait for HD2 ROM chef to cook from HTC Desire build.
Guess I have to wait. Lately just know how to install thru CM Recovery successfully. I know is very slow pickup of me. But how to back up and install back all the setting from old to new ROM installed.

I have big prob here. I did the BackUp with Titanium. Then moved all the apps to SD by Titanium. When Switch OFF and On again. All the apps seems to vanish when Reboot. Why this thing can happen? I even try to Restore by Titanium buy crash in half way.

I did not try to move apps to SD with TB before. You might want to check with TB developer on your issue.
Ok. I moved all the apps back to internal memory. Which I suppose should be in Ext3 of SD card. Then all the apps remains after each Boot up. That shouldn’t be an issue to slowing down the speed of the processor right? Cause the phone assume that Ext3 is the whole memory space for it. My Ext3 is 1024Mb and still has 660Mb free after all the apps moved in.

Yes, CM is a light ROM. So the size is smaller than normal Samsung firmware. Err… I can’t confirm the exact file size as CM website is down now.
after installing Androidmeda HyperDroid ROM ,i can,t find my titanium apps in my phone??
Wipe data and cache delete all previous installed applications. You need to install Titanium Backup back yourself. Then use it to restore other apps and data.

Personally, I will stay with custom firmware based on official Samsung firmware. CM7 is still new for SGS2.
jayce, i alry install CyanogenMod 7.1 but after reboot it juz stuck at galaxy logo not moving . first i copy zip file than paste to sdcard than follow all cwm procedure to install.
Go back to clockwork recovery and install it again.

CM server is quite busy and down during my download. My downloaded zip file was not completed. Make sure that your downloaded zip file is not corrupted.

Weird… I have the same problem on CM nightly. Need to install the zip twice. Then okay.

hi, chetan u must copy the zip file to ur com do not extract the zip file than copy & paste to sdcard,from there juz follow all cwm procedure to install.
Currently using CM7.1 on my SGS2 for about an hour now.
-Do not detect external SD
-Camera crashes most of the time
-Cannot install apps from market several times.

Wow, your SGS2 can go up to 1.6 GHz. Mine always crash at that speed. How much voltage did you use?
I’ve OC’d the phone by tweaking the performance setting in CM setting, with both Min and Max frequency at 1600 MHz just to test how long will it take to crash the phone. I didn’t tweak the voltage though.
Been using this OC’d setting since morning , played almost all the Gameloft games. streaming youtube, playing HD videos and browsing the Internet, but no crashes yet.
Quadrant Standard Score is around 4800-5200
but the camera and other camera related apps crashes a lot though. Sigh.
btw, all the SD card contents can be accessed in /mnt/emmc/

CM 7.1 is not at all stable..installed and used it for 6hrs..not stable..when i press the power or home button screen stays black..

Stock video player only come with Samsung firmware. Or I should say all the Samsung apps are gone…

I installed the recovery boot and i booted it on this cm7.1 and then i used odin and downloaded a random code CF-root so does any1 know the CF-root for this so i can open my phone now it wont open or get up only way is via usb and then u can get it into odin mode.

Press and hold down Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time.
Release all buttons when you see SGS2 Logo.
ClockworkMod Recovery will be loaded then.
press reboot .
Then what does it load?
@Antonio: Personally, I don’t feel any slowness with apps in EXT3 partition. And what choice do we have since HTC HD2 does not have much internal disk space…

CWM Manager comes with CF-Root. Installing CM7 already deleted it.

Which ROM did you install?
the new CM Roman 7.1 I transfer the Rom went threw the steps and when I select install Rom from SD card it aborts action.

hi,DM21 my stock rom battery within 1 day of moderate use,temperature within abt half 2 1 hr u can feel the heat now using CM 7.1 ROM can feel the diffference alot.

hi jayce, why my CWM is not working when i’m trying to back up my file and restore it, but while when i’m using titanium back up its working properly bot back up and restoring save files,, also i would like to ask i can’t install cyanogenmod-7-1 using CWM… appreciated your feedback
Are you using CF-Root CWM?
CM7 is a bit special for Galaxy S2. I need to wipe data and cache then install firmware. And repeat this process again in order to get it installed. Failed boot loop on first installation.
yeah i’m using CWM did you remember when i’m facing recovery to my old file,, when i root my sg2 change the room to ginger bread 2.3.4 i go to http://androidadvices.com which is totally different from your instruction, but the same ODIN i use when i root,, do you think it affect.. when i update to 2.3.4 rom i follow the instruction as follows from http://androidadvices.com i dowloaded the 2.3.4 Package from this site,, then i extract,, after then i open odin 1.83, the extracted file has consist of the following file CODE_I9100XXKG2_CL375027_REV02_user_low_ship.tar , GT-I9100-CSC-HOME-MULTI-OXAKG2.tar ,GT-I9100-CSC-MULTI-OXAKG2.tar.md5, KERNEL_I9100XXKG2_CL375027_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5, MODEM_I9100XXKG2_REV_02_CL1037208.tar.md5 and i inserted to odin ,, not only in PDA as well as bootloader, phone and PIT,, and i successfully updated my mobile to 2.3.4 and now i change my rom to K13 which i get in your blog/site i mnage to update also,, but the CWM is not properly working for both backup and restore…please advice what will be the best remedy to my problem…thanks pLEase note that i cannot install also CM7 using CWM when i load through CMW its stock only in MID of installation

Android system recovery now CWM..may be there a problem inn my mobile and also when i’m trying to back up my files cwm is not working it will only create the back up file folder and and the it will prompt to reboot now and then it will will back-up,, but when you already rebooted if you will go to my files/clockwork-mode/backup it’s not appearing in the files?…thanks
You did not install CF-Root in this case. Else you will have ClockworkMod Recovery…
how can i install ClockworkMod Recovery? if i did not install Clockworkmode recover why the titanium back is working ?
As I mentioned, install CF-Root. You may have rooted your SGS2 but not with CF-Root. Rooted does not meant that you will have CWM.
hi jayce i try to root again and it is successful. one thing i have notice when i update my super user back up and restoring my files it didn’t work but now its ok and also i can access the root access menu . and one question when i rooted again my mobile its show the same in about my phone:

I have a problem, i have installed the CM7 on my hd2 and everything works great.
BUT i cannot download any apps or games because I only have around 8mb internal memory.
How do I change so that the apps and games are downloaded directly to my SD?
I’ve tried to change it through the phone but the only option is to install them on the SD.
But I cannot download anything because of the low memory. Please help!

Also, I have changed OS on my hd2 many times but i never seem to find one that is really good!

CM7 ROM is great. MIUI ROM is good too. You can install apps and games from Android Market yourself.

oh man… i think i messed up big time:( just now i wanted to restore my old backup through CWM recovery but i didn’t wipe data/factory reset or wipe cache. and it failed. so i just reboot again. it went on to load the cyanogenmod 7.1 but kee getting FC on android.process.acore (if i’m not mistaken). So i reselect reboot to recovery from the ROM manager. Now my screen is stuck at the Samsung Galaxy SII part and would not load into recovery mode. Any hope? Please say yes…
i can go into download mode.. maybe if i try flash back the stock firmware it will help?

I’m stuck at the boot logo at the moment. Will try to restrore the stock firmware when i get back tonight. Hopefully can go into recovery mode by then. Wish me luck!! hehe.

You can try since you can’t boot into CWM.
Phew…. luckily it worked. I managed to restore it to stock xxki3 before rooting and reinstalling checkrom revolution HD on my s2. Don’t want to ever go through that experience again. Haha!
What the different between CM7 Stable Mod,Experimental Mod and Nightly Builds.

thanx for the link, i tried your link and watched all your vidoes on how to install, did everything by the book but its just frozen on htc logo after 2 hours, htc in (green)
Which Android ROM and version did you install?
thanx for your help, i did fig it out the only thing u need to add to your video is 150, rec or 400 if u can add that if your os is frozen and not installed in 10 to 30 min and they still have the logo on their screen then try to reinstall the correct rec 150 or 400, i hope u didnt mind me saying that once again thanx for your vid and u r grt

Install like other CWM ROM. But CM7 needs to run the whole process twice. First time might have boot loop issue.
ahh there is no need to install the ROM Manager thing? so if i face a boot loop issue..i just need to go back to recovery mode and repeat the whole process again? is it ok if im coming from checkrom?

am using cm7 sd version of android on my htc hd2, works very smooth but unable to sync with my pc using htcsync, there isnt any option to choose usb connection tyoe after connection usb to pc. Pls help.
HTC Sync only work on HTC Sense build Android ROM. CM7 ROM cannot.

CM7 is lighter and faster on HTC HD2. But on SGS2 is not really that great because not all the functions are working smoothly yet.

I don’t have T-Mobile G2x. But I think you just ClockworkMod Recovery to install CWM type Android ROM.

Jayce,I flashed CM7 but camera isnt working and sdcard is not being detected.
now,when i try to restore from CWM,after clicking restore,no files are being displayed(though I have taken NAND backup before flashing CM7)
How do I restore back now?I didnt want to flash stock through ODIN so I ensured I would just back it up with NAND,but no files being displayed,probably because I took back up on ext sd and CM7 fails to detect it
The backup file should be stored in either internal or external SD card. Just copy it to other one that don’t have it.
i am using HTC Desire S phone and lately i upgrade my android version 2.3.3 to 2.3.5. after upgrading it started giving me problem. the dislpay give problem after receving a call on the phone. please help me out.

Sorry sunil, I don’t have Desire S. Not too sure what is your problem. You can try to factory reset your phone see.

2. Now I have Gingerbread 2.3.5 is it safe to install this one ?
3. Does it matter what ROM i have before I install a custom ROM ? For example can I go from CyanogenMod 7.1 to Lite’ning lets say or the other way around ?

I have LG T-Mobile G2x (P999DW), I was trying to upgrade and during upgradation the phone hanged and it just shows me that S/W upgrading, nothing else happens.

Hi Darren, try factory reset it. And reinstall Android ROM again.
