HTC HD2 has Facebook mobile client built in but it is not the latest version. Microsoft Marketplace has the latest version 1.1.0.14 for Windows Mobile. Other platforms already got version 1.2. I installed this so called latest version on my HTC HD2. Hoping to get a better performance in viewing photo. But I was wrong. The same slowness still can be found in this 1.1.0.14 version. The Windows Mobile loading icon keeps showing while loading photo sometimes. I rather use HTC Album to view Facebook photo. It is faster. And do the rest like view status update, news feed, people info in this Facebook mobile client.
By the way, you will notice there is lot of folders pop up on HTC Album after you wondering around Facebook 1.1.0.14 photo. It has image cache. The image cache folder is located at your device storage but you can change to Storage Card if needed. Just edit HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Facebook\ImageCache -> path to the location that you want. And use this guide to hide these folders with pictures from HTC Album.
With HTC HD2 large screen, I seldom use Facebook client. I login to Facebook directly with Opera browser. How about you?
Download Microsoft Facebook Client 1.2 (1.1.0.14) cab here.

Yeah… We love free stuffs ~ free software, free games, free application, freeware… There was Microsoft Marketplace for you to download Windows Mobile software. However, you need to pay for most of them. You don’t need to pay with this OpnMarket. The concept is the same but OpnMarket consists only FREE applications.

Yeah… Right… Who said that HTC HD2 cannot work on old small UI elements? Check out this video. They manage to enable pinch and zoom function on older Windows Mobile apps. Therefore, no need to worry that you big finger cannot work well on HTC HD2 capacitive touchscreen.
Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 is another great smartphone that use Qualcomm QSD8250 Snapdragon 1 GHz processor. It is almost like HTC HD2 but it run on Android 1.6 (Donut) OS which I don’t prefer. Huh? Everyone is looking for Android OS right, and you aren’t? Well, Android still don’t have the support of Garmin XT (Garmin XT supports Palm, Symbian and Windows Mobile). I need to use my next smartphone as GPS navigator too. And free Malaysia GPS maps are for Garmin device only. And I want to sync Microsoft Outlook calendar, contact and might be email too. My current Sony Ericsson T510i failed to do the simple task.
Besides same CPU, Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 uses capacitive touchscreen too but with larger screen 854 x 480 pixels. This is great for web browsing. And it has larger 8 megapixel auto-focus camera. Yeah… I don’t need to use phone camera as most of them still poor in quality (compare to my SLR camera of course
). Anyway, Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 is a great smartphone to own. But just not for me, for the moment…
Samsung i8000 Omnia II was the mobile phone that I wanted to buy at first before I saw the superior HTC HD2. ai.rs came out Samsung i8000 Omnia II video preview with Windows Mobile 6.5 and TouchWiz. I read some Samsung i8000 Omnia II reviews before. All of them mentioned that Samsung i8000 Omnia II is a little lag. Not believe me? See the video yourself. (It did not response at all when reviewer touch and drag)
Samsung i8000 Omnia II is a good smart phone. I love the AMOLED display but just a little bit lag. Is it due to Windows Mobile or TouchWiz or resistive touch screen or slow CPU?
