Package Content
Cloud Stinger S comes well protected in a gift box alike packaging. Once opened, you can find the headset itself, 3.5mm (4 Pole) USB adapter, support information cards and multi-language quick start guide there.

Yes, this is the 3.5mm (4 Pole) USB adapter. Basically, it is a DAC. So you can use Cloud Stinger S directly without any soundcard on your PC. And it is the one that let you enjoy virtual 7.1 surround sound too. You can also plug in 3.5mm audio jack without the USB dongle. Yes, can be used on mobile devices on top of desktop PC.

Build Quality & Design
Build quality is great for the price. The plastic housing is solid along with the adjustable sturdy steel sliders. Light in weight at 275g only. The volume control is located at the right ear cup. The flexible, noise-cancelling mic with swivel-to-mute function is on the left one. Along with the 2.5m long cable.

The headband with HyperX logo on top is really flexible. And comes with soft leatherette ear cushions. As usual, do check out all the photos for details.

Fit, Comfort & Isolation
It is a pleasure to wear Cloud Stinger S for long hours comfortably. All thanks to lightweight body. Soft padded rotatable earcups, adjustable and flexible well cushioned headband helps too. Great for long hour of gameplay, movie watching and music listening for sure. As for noise isolation, it is average at best as over-the-ear closed back headphones. Does block some environment noises but don’t expect much from it.

Yeah… Check out the soft, pliable leatherette and dense memory foam. Don’t forget that the 90° rotating ear cups can rest comfortably around your neck during breaks. That’s great!

Software
You can start to use Cloud Stinger S by just plug in the wireless USB adapter to Windows PC. Windows will install the correct driver for you automatically. However, you are limited to 2.0 stereo only.

HyperX NGENUITY software is needed to enable virtual 7.1 surround sound. You can control microphone volume there as well.

Performance Result
The flexible, noise-cancelling microphone is performing well. Best for MOBA and FPS type of games. My teammate can hear me loud and clear. The swivel-to-mute function is really useful. Just swivelling the mic upwards to mute it. And it does not block you anymore while listening to music or watching movie. And don’t limit it for games, you can use it for video phone call during office meeting. Perfect for Covid-19 lockdown period.

Sound Quality
Excellent sound quality for the price. Period. HyperX 50mm drivers do a great job here no doubt. It is a balanced sound signature headphones out of the box without virtual 7.1 surround sound enabled. Highs are clear and clean. Smooth with no harshness at all. Mids are performing well too. Vocals are natural and nice for both male and female. Bass is powerful. Deep and well-control. No worry, it is not bloated like those budget headphones. Soundstage is decent. Not the widest nor the narrowest. Get its job done. These are what you get from out of the box 2.0 stereo sound.

Yeah… Enjoy deeper depth with virtual 7.1 surround sound. Mids are getting bumped up too. Vocals are closer to your ears now. Same applies to footsteps and gunshots. Sharper and crisper sound in return. Let you know your enemies’ location clearly. Suitable for gaming no doubt. But do take note that the soundstage is slightly narrower. Overall, there are more advantages with virtual 7.1 surround sound turned on. So you can ignore that one.

Interesting fun fact… After enjoying virtual 7.1 surround sound, turning it off make 2.0 stereo sounds flat. Yes, you will miss the 3D effects. Anyway, the toggle button is there in HyperX NGENUITY software. Enjoy the best of both worlds. Totally up to you…
