    Dear Jaycee ,

Can I update this through Samsung kies ¿ what will happened to my siyah kernel after this update ? n will this update clean my current apps installation ? . thank you

    Regards ,

    Chuan

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

No, unless your existing firmware is based on Poland too. It will remove SiyahKernel. Nope, official firmware is non wipe (unless you face issue and need to factory reset).

      • http://tcx2.blogspot.com Chuan

        Dear Jaycee ,

        Thank for the info

        Regards ,
        Chuan

      Hard to say…

  • Surren

    Only For rooted sgs3 ?

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

No root access is needed to install official firmware.

  • Rick

    Hi Jayce,

it’s me again. Last time was followed ur guideline and I did rooted my s3.

I nvr flash any custom firmware just because waiting for THIS! and thanks God, finally it released.

My question is, as I told you, I rooted the device. So should I un-root it and then only follow the guideline given above to flash this stock JB?

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,
    Rick (25-9-2012 12:52am)

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

No need to un-root. Install official firmware will auto un-root for you. Then you need to re-root it again.

  • Melvin

    Hi Jayce,

Would you mind checking the link again coz I’m getting this error when I try to DL the firmware, “This file does not exist, the access to the following file is limited or it has been removed due to infringement of copyright.”

Also is it ok to install this via Odin even though I have this build IMM76D.I9300UBBLG2 (which I’m confuse where this unit come from..:P I thought my device is from UK)

    Thanks!

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

Hi Melvin, there are several download sites. Try other if one failed.

It should be okay as long as yours SGS3 is I9300 model.

      • Melvin

Jayce changing CSC is not required when I install JB right? I don’t want to wipe my current setup.

        • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

          No need.

  • George F.

Hey Jayce love your posts. Thanks to you i rooted my galaxy s3 running ics ;) but now i wanted to know if tjere is a way to root my gs3 running jellybean??

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

The rooting process is the same as Ice Cream Sandwich.

      • George F.

Thanks man, so i just follow your tutorial for ics?

        • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

          Yes George.

          • George F.

            Thanks a lot ;)

  • seng

will my warranty void if i install this firmware?

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

It might if XXDLIB Firmware is not for your region. But you can always restore back to your own stock firmware anytime you want. So warranty is safe with that.

Is there any chinese input keyboard available?

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

      I don’t think so.

  • Gav

Hi i’ve just rooted my 4.04 ics, now i’ve got the official jellybean update prompt.
After i download it and accept the terms my device boots into CWM-based recovery menu.

How do i get it to update to 4.1.1? Should i just follow this guide and use the rom in the link you’ve provided? Thanks

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

Hi Gav, you can use Samsung Kies to upgrade.

  • Geords

Hello, if i install the poland version on my Galaxy S3 will i lose reception etc. i have a different build number and baseband because i am from Australia. Can i still install this firmware without losing reception.

    thanks

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

It should be working but I can’t confirm since I am not in Australia.

  • conan21

hi jayce, do you know if there’s a new JB custom rom for S2?

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

There is Jelly Bean custom ROM for Galaxy S2. Not from Samsung but CM10 and AOKP ROM.

  • Surren

Hello. Installing this Pollad JB firmware changes my CSC? If it does, will i have any problem with cellular network? problem in making calls or using data? Im from malaysia.

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

Yes, it does. Should not have problem to make call as I am using Europe firmware and CSC too.

      • Surren

Installing this firmware wipes out my data? My contacts, files etc.

        • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

By right, no. But no harm to make backup first.

  • Chuan201

    Dear Jaycee,

so far i only root my s3 and install siyah kernel but i tried all the ways from net and few labtops and cables , my skies still stuck at connecting stage and i even uninstall my skies already but the problem still persist , is that the only way is i install official update through Odin flashing when sammobile release the Jellybean for XME ? Thank for advice

    Regards,
    Chuan

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

SiyahKernel won’t work with Samsung Kies. Yes, install with Odin.

      • http://tcx2.blogspot.com Chuan

        ok , thanks

        • Chuan201

          Dear Jayce,

Dev Rom like Check Rom HD xx seems interesting but i wonder after flashing that , can the stock rom certain apps being kept (do wipe needed?) and if nope , can chinese character keyboard be installed to the Check Rom and will flashing the CHeck rom affect the avaibility of S3 to enjoy promotional free apps from samsung ? Will different like Modem: XXDLIB which may different our Malaysian Region affect the function of the phone ? Thank you

          Regards,
          Chuan

          • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

CheckROM is custom ROM based on Samsung Firmware. So most of the Samsung apps and features are there (you can install with KitchenPro manually).

Check with ROM chef on need to wipe or not.

            Yes, CheckROM support Samsung Apps.

Modem only affect signal. No effect to other functions.

  • Dev

    Dear Jayce,
Firstly please dont mind my ignorance as this is my first android phone so i dont know anything about it ! :( I live in new zealand and i bought this phone online just 3 days ago. The instruction manual was in another (european) language, the “baseband” : I9300XXLH1 and the “build number” is : IMM76D.I9300XXBLH1 . Please tell me if this means my warranty will be void if i do the upgrade like above or if it is ok. I tried to search but i cant find where my phone is from. Also if i do the process anyway can i change the new firmware to my old firmware for warranty problems with kies suit on my computer? thank you in advance for answering my many questions!!!

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

Hi Dev, please take your time to explore Android platform first. Don’t install other firmware so soon.

      • Dev

        T_T ok…

  • Dev

thanks for the honest answer though… please keep updating information on the galaxy s3, i will follow you on facebook!!! i like honest opinions!

      • Scott

  • Bob

Hi there, I just updated to the 4.1.1 Jellybean software of Poland. I am wondering how do I flash back to my previous 4.0.4 ICS? Do I just download the firmware and reflash it using odin or do a factory reset?

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

Hi Bob, you need to factory reset in recovery. Then install firmware.

      • Bob

Thank you for your reply. Will doing a factory reset in recovery wipe out all my data? If so, would Samsung Kies be the best method to back up my data?

        • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

Yes. No, I prefer to use Titanium Backup.

  • Ryan

Hi will installing this get rid of the annoying carrier welcome screen I get when I power on my phone?

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

No idea Ryan as I don’t have carrier version of SGS3. You need to try it to find out.

  • Bob

Hello there Jayce, I have one more question for you.

I would like to ask in the event the jelly bean software for my own region were to be released and at the point I have already applied the jelly bean update for a different region, can I just flash it directly to my phone via ODIN since it’s the same Android Version? I’m on the polish version and the localised singapore version would arrive soon.

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

Yes but might need to factory reset in recovery if something went wrong.

  • http://www.duncanformosa.com Duncan Formosa

If I download an official firmware (JB. 4.1.1) from sammobile website will I be able to install the firmware following this (http://www.jayceooi.com/2012/06/22/how-to-install-firmware-on-samsung-galaxy-s3-with-odin-video/) tutorial ?

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

      • Carsley

        yeah…i still can type chinese

  • Carsley

hello…after i installed this jelly bean, when Malaysia get the official update for the jelly bean will i be informed?and can i update to malaysia version jelly bean via OTA

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

No, you need to install Malaysia version with Odin manually.

      • Carsley

So when the Malaysia version released will you upload to your website?

        • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

Sure will make a blog post about it. ;)

  • Carsley

How to restore back to the previous firmware?

  • harry

Thanks for the great guide. Now i was wondering, since ive rooted my s3 and updated it into jellybean, what can i do if i want the phone back to normal and receive ”proper” updates. Thanks in advance.

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

Hi harry, factory reset in recovery mode. Then install stock firmware with Odin.

  • harry

One more question, can i receive normal updates with just ROOT, and what is the best way to check new updates for the JB now that i have it installed ? thanks for the quick replies.

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

Yes, check upgrade with Samsung Kies.

  • Taaha

Hey my phone comes up on kies as sgh-i747m and says there is no update if thats the name does that mean that its not an i9300 and i cant get the update?

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

Yes, it is not I9300. Need to wait for official update from Samsung.

  • Hafyz

tested and my S3 working like a charm with Jelly Bean. Since Samsung already roll out Jelly Bean in Polland for Galaxy Note, do you think that same process will work with Note?

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

The installation process is the same.

      • Hafyz

the only latest firmware i found via sammobile.com is from russia. Is it compatible with our country?

        • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

No idea, I didn’t try Russia firmware before.

  • Andrew

Can you help give me some hints .Thank you Jayce Ooi.

    • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

Hi Andrew, look like you need to factory reset. System not stable already…

  • Nelson

Hi Jayce ,i m from malaysia and i have updated to 4.1.1 thru kies . it took me about 30 minutes . So far no issue , jus keep my finger cross….

    • gAB

        • Gab4

          Thanx bro
I guess being in china also mess up help from outside, even my pc kies has no store after updating it over and over

  • axelynx22

Hi jaycee.. I’ve rooted my sgs3 a while ago. Then last night i update my firmware to 4.1.1 jb via KIES. Ia this will automatically unroot my phone? Before i update my firmware i use OTA rootkeepeer to unroot my device temporarily. After i root, i still find my rootes apps installed on my phone, but it cant work just like my phone isn.’t rooted. Is this mean my device has been unrootwd automatically? Thanks btw!

    • axelynx22

I mean after i update my firmware i can still find rooted apps on my sgs3*

      • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

OTA RootKeeper won’t work on Samsung devices. You need to re-root it.

        • axelynx22

I see. My question is, does my sgs3 no no longer rooted anymore? Tbh i was planning to unroot my sgs3. But if it already unrooted, then it’ll be nice

          • http://www.jayceooi.com Jayce

Not 100% unrooted because you still have root apps. Anyway, warranty still void unless you clear custom binary download counter.
            http://www.jayceooi.com/2012/06/14/how-to-restore-stock-firmware-on-samsung-galaxy-s3-video/

            • axelynx22

Ahh i see. If i do that steps i will do afactory reset then. And it will erase all my data right? If i stay on tracks right now, and do unistalling root application manually, will this affect my phone’s performance? If i wasnt here to warranty, do i need to do those steps? (in case at this point some of not working root may affect my phone performance)

              thanks jaycee!

  • kamran

Is there any way to change firmware of phone to get regional compatibility?
I mean I have SGS3 GT-I9300 with THR(IRAN) latest firmware updated on it and I live in INDIA, so is there any way by which I can change my firmware XXLH1 to some Indian firmware release e.g.DDLI7.
