Samsung Galaxy S2 ClockworkMod Recovery Mode is the advanced version of the Samsung Galaxy S II Recovery Mode that comes along in stock firmware. Besides features like apply update from SD card, wipe data / factory reset and wipe cache partition, ClockworkMod Recovery Mode has addition features like install zip from sdcard, backup and restore, mounts and storage, advanced and power off.

How to load into Samsung Galaxy S2 ClockworkMod Recovery Mode?
- Turn off Samsung Galaxy S 2.
- Press and hold down Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time.
- Release all buttons when you see SGS2 Logo.
- ClockworkMod Recovery will be loaded then.
Most of Samsung Galaxy S2 custom firmware are installed through ClockworkMod Recovery Mode. Therefore, it is a must install mod for those love to try out custom firmware. Besides, CWM also provides Nandroid full system backup and restore feature which is very useful. My only wish ~ my Samsung Galaxy S2 is 32GB version. 11.5GB sdcard internal storage is not enough for me…

Hi Jayce
Thanks and appreciate for your reply. Apologize that I don’t know how to express exactly, I’m really newbie, first time play on Android phone and got crash 🙁
However, below are what I did in chronological order
1) I did and success

2) Did & Success

3) Did & fail
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=892297
4) Outcome
It restarted, and keep restarting at Samsung start-up flash screen repeatly, can not load into mobile home screen.
This morning, I bought to Malaysia Samsung Service Center. They mention can try to flash my phone. Now, black out – can’t start the phone even pressing power button.
Thanks, appreciate that
ps: I bought from Bangkok, is Malaysia version different? Btw, I did try to do the hard reset but same. (Vol Up + Home + Power button, then Wipe Data/ Factory Reset)
Not sure about Bangkok version but Singapore and Malaysia are using KF1 firmware. But in term of hardware, they are the same.
Sorry, can’t help much now since your phone can’t be powered on. Else you can load into Odin download mode and install a new firmware.
It’s all right man. I guess Samsung Service guy doing the same, put into download mode and insall new firmware.
Btw, I screen capture baseband version is DXKF1, Build number is Gingerbread.DXKF4
Anyway, thanks alot man. Last, any alternative solution or suggestion? send back to where I bought – Bangkok?
Can you still load your SGS2 into Odin download mode? If cannot, there is nothing you can do now. Try to contact Samsung support at Thailand if Malaysia support can’t help much.

Look at your SGS2 box (behind bottom left) or Settings – About phone – Model number.

Good. Then you can use everything that I showed in my blog. 🙂
Your recovery issue should be solved after you restore back to stock firmware. And don’t use ROM Manager if you installed CF-Root Kernel. It is not compatible.

Is your downloaded CM7 zip file corrupted?
hello jayce after some problems with ics i tried to install the cm7 rc3(release candidate3) and after installing i also installed gapps (right away) ant then rebooted the phone(also wiped cashe+dalvik+wipe data/factory reset) and after that my phone stuck on sgs2 logo and just restarts every 3 or 4 seconds i can get into download mod but even before that when i connected the usb my phone would just charge did not mount (thats why im downgrading) and still in downlaod mode it dosnt show anything on odin and i cant get into cwm ( can yo say againg which buttons?) thank you in advance i’ll check here tomorrow(cause i shoud go to bed :d)
Load into CWM mode buttons are in the post.
hey good morning still not loading what can i do?
Hmm… CWM might be corrupted in this case. Try to install official firmware with Odin. But not sure can work or not. Because you need to wipe data and cache with recovery first.
so? what you suggest now you think if i get it to a pro shop can they do any thing with professional tools?
No idea about pro shop as I did not try it before.
tnx a lot anyway

Hmm… You should not have boot loop issue if your CWM backup is working properly.
Try to wipe data and cache first. If still cannot, restore back to stock firmware. https://www.jayceooi.com/2011/08/12/how-to-solve-boot-loop-issue-on-samsung-galaxy-s2/
Hi jayce,
I have been using litening rom 6.1 (KH3 base) for months and a found out the cwm installed is V4.0.0.2 (same as your picture) and i tried to update to v4.0.1.5 thru CWM ROM Manager application in market. Even tho it show in the ROM Manager as it the latest 4.0.1.5 but when i got to recovery mode its still 4.0.0.2
also tried to flash to KH3 Chain Fire kernel, but still is the v4.0.0.2
Please advise on how to update the Clockworkmod recovery.
thank you.
Sorry, no idea. I don’t upgrade CWM normally. I use CWM version that come along with CF-Root.
By the way, why do you need to update CWM version?
hi jayce,
