Package Content & Design
SonicGear P5000 comes well protected. There are speaker, micro USB charging cable, AUX cable and user manual in the package. User manual is in both English and Malay by the way.

Excellent build quality for the price. It has smooth matte and nice to touch rubberized housing. Metal speaker grill in front. The tail is a useful strap to hang it everywhere you prefer.

Comes with 5 lovely colours – graphite, pink, grey, black and blue as below.

All the navigation buttons are located on top including microphone.

At back, there are on/off switch button, micro USB port, micro SD slot, USB port and AUX in. By the way, you need to use AUX cable as external FM radio. FM radio won’t work without it.

Small anti-skid pads but still able to provide stable grip.

Performance Result
SonicGear P5000 Moby easily passed 10m straight line test. Up to 7m+ on obstacle test with walls. That’s great. In addition, it has virtually no lag between video and audio. It’s a pleasure to watch movie, TV series and play games on mobile devices like smartphone and tablet. As usual, there is AUX in port for non-Bluetooth devices.

3.5 hours non-stop music playback on 400 mAh battery. Yup, that’s the test done on average room sound level. As usual, battery life will be shorter when playing louder. And requires around 3.5 hours for self fully charged. By the way, there is battery life indicator on both iOS and Android devices. That’s great to know when to charge it.

Microphone performance is decent. Others can hear me loud and clear. But there is some voice skipping sometimes. As for FM radio, it is working great once connected external antenna. Channel signal is clear and clean. As usual, that depends on your area FM channel reception. Lastly, built-in MP3 player performs well too. Just plug in your favourite songs will do. It will start playing for you.

SonicGear P5000 Moby is a bright sound signature speaker. Yes, it does have more treble than bass. I would love to have more bass here. But that’s usual for small Bluetooth speaker. No surprise here. In short, you get clear and crisp treble. Yet does not bring any harshness. Great for those loves to have vocals to be heard clearly. As for loudness, 5W is good enough to blast in a small quiet room. As usual, don’t over push until sound distortion kicks in.
