Yup, there is a leaked official Android 4.0.4 ICS Firmware for Samsung Galaxy S2 ~ XXLQ5 Firmware (Europe region). What are the new features and improvements in this XXLQ5 Firmware? Based on feedback from users who tested it… Much smoother experience in TouchWiz Launcher, menus and stock browser. And other minor tweaks from here and there too. Try it yourself to find out more. No worry, you can install Android 4.0.4 ICS XXLQ5 Firmware on any other region Samsung Galaxy S2 as long as model is GT-I9100. Just installed it on my Malaysia unit. Note – this is WIPE version. It will delete everything on your phone. Make sure you make backup first.

XDA Developer, Chainfire is famous with his CF-Root Kernel for Samsung Galaxy S II and Samsung Galaxy Note. And he develops CF-Root for Samsung Galaxy S III as well. But CF-Root for Samsung Galaxy S3 is not a custom kernel anymore. Chainfire makes it simple by adding SuperSU, ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery and CWM Manager Application only to CF-Root. This makes the whole CF-Root installation easier because you can install CF-Root on your Samsung Galaxy S3 no matter what kernel is being used. No more CF-Root for each kernel version. However, this makes some goodies like insecure adbd (ro.secure=0), custom boot scripts and custom boot animations are not supported. Not a big deal as I just want to have CWM and root access.

Download Triangle Away for Samsung Galaxy S3

Triangle Away is another great product from XDA Developer, Chainfire. Personally, I don’t recommend using Triangle Away unless USB Jig is not working. Basically, Triangle Away can remove the yellow triangle from boot screen as well as reset the flash counter, for a select few Samsung devices that running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich like Samsung Galaxy S II (GT-I9100 & SGH-I777), Samsung Galaxy Note (GT-N7000 & GT-I9220) and Samsung Galaxy S III (GT-I9300 & GT-I9300T). The flash counter keeps track of how many custom firmwares you have flashed and this voids warranty. So Triangle Away helps to recover warranty back if you have flashed custom firmware or kernel.

Well, kinda… This is a leaked engineering version of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Firmware for Samsung Galaxy S2. It is the very first Android 4.0 ICS XXKP1 firmware for SGS2 from Samsung. As the name apply, engineering build == beta == unstable == not for daily use because not everything is working. So this is a ROM for those wish to test and have a feel of Android 4.0 ICS on their Samsung Galaxy S2 looks like. Note – XXKP1 firmware is considered a custom ROM. So your SGS2 warranty will be voided once installed it. Anyway, not a big deal as you can always restore back to original stock firmware with Odin. Only install it if you know how to restore back…
