Package Content & Design
In the package, you can find Imperion Black Widow S300 and CD driver. Build quality is decent for a lightweight mouse.

It is a right-handed mouse. Can be used with left hand but thumb buttons are not accessible then. And suitable for fingertip and palm grips. Every buttons and scroll wheel are easily accessed. There are LED lights all over the mouse. Great for those who love lighting effect and play games in low light environment. Do check out all the photos for details. As you can see, there are 3 glide pads at the bottom. And the cable is braided with anti-interference magnet ring. By the way, USB plug is gold plated.

Software
Black Widow S300 shares the same software driver as Gamegear S200. Therefore, it is plug and play supported on Windows PC. No driver installation is needed in order to use it as usual. With software driver installed, you can unlock all its functions and features then. Configure all 6 buttons with Windows shortcuts and multimedia functions that you prefer. 4 sets of DPI can be set but fixed at 1200, 1600, 2000, 2400 and 3200 DPI. No other smaller value can be set. In addition, there are 5 profiles – cfg 1 to 3, media and game.

Macro manager is there for you to setup marco keys. Mouse pointer precision can be set there as well. Same apply to LED settings. Again, you can’t set LED colour that based on DPI setting. It is all preset – solid colour for all DPI settings or cycling all 4 colours.

Performance Result
I like optical sensor that is located at center of the mouse. This give you fastest learning curve and best usage. Yes, Black Widow S300 has it. And optical sensor performance is decent too. Works on multiple surfaces including slightly shinny and reflective ones during the tests. In addition, mouse pointer movement is fast and precise. Buttons are responsive and feedback is good thanks to Huano switches. Thumb buttons can be accessed easily too and they have nice light clicking feel. As for scroll wheel, it is tight and accurate but slightly noisy when scroll up. Not a deal breaker though.

Advantages

  • Decent optical performance
  • Good ergonomic for comfortable grip
  • LED light based on DPI
  • Customizable keys
  • Stylish design

Limitations

  • Fixed DPI values
  • Slightly noisy scroll wheel
  • Single DPI button

Conclusion
Imperion Black Widow S300 is a solid and colourful budget mouse no doubt. You can enjoy fast and precise optical performance. Suitable for both gaming and daily use thanks to LED lighting that changed based DPI value. Do visit Nobel It Facebook for more information.
