Samsung Galaxy S II Odin Download Mode is new to me. Basically, it is used to install firmware, kernel and root Samsung Galaxy S2. Samsung Galaxy S2 needs to be in Odin download mode on these operations.

How to load Samsung Galaxy S II Odin Download Mode?

  1. Turn off Samsung Galaxy S2.
  2. Press and hold down Volume Down + Home + Power buttons at the same time.
  3. Press Volume Up button when warning prompt.
  4. Finally, SGS2 Odin download mode will be loaded.

Samsung did a great move by letting Samsung Galaxy S2 bootloader unlock. Therefore, lot of developers are developing custom ROM for Samsung Galaxy S2 now compare to HTC Sensation and HTC EVO 3D which have locked bootloader.

    How long it is suppose to take? My SGS2 is about 1 hour with the “downloading screen” and I don’t know what it is doing.

    Do you know other vendor who not lock the bootloader beside samsung?
    is it still the same : power button + home + vol up to boot in safe mode for sgs ii ?

    my grandson was playing with my galaxy s2 and locked it as he was playing with the pattern lock, how do i unlock the phone as ive forgot my gmail and password i used when i first had the phone… or how do i do a hard reset to get in to my phone…

    But how do one tell that the firmware is Odexed or Deodexed?
    I am currently on XXKG6 2.3.4 for my SGS2, that I got from your site. Is this Odexed or Deodexed?

    Also, can I use odexed update.zip for deoxdexed firmware or vice versa?

    Is there anyway I can get the files to upload Bootloader, CSC, PDA and Phone of SGS2. I made a terrible mistake by choosing to download with ODIN’s Bootloader the kernel_i9100xxki3.tar file. The operation failed but after that, I couldn’t do any more downloads with other options. I also have the Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again message.

    Luckily, the phone is still recognized on my PC and ODIN so I am hoping I can correct the issue.

  14. Hi, I would like to ask for your help. I tried to flash the modem to KG5 using odin. But it stated failed at the end of the process. (it is my first time trying) So I took out the batt and tried to restart my phone but it couldn’t be on. It showed a black screen with a pic of [phone]–!–[com] is at the top left corner of the phone. May I know what can be done to solve this problem?? I am still a noob wiith android. Thanks a lot for any help!

    I did everything you said (wrote) and now I’ve got my phone in Odin mode ( it was and still is my last hope, i’ve tried many many many ways-my friend’s blocked my phone with trying “too many patterns” ) but what now? It’s been like this for about 5 min. I’d just like to know if I should wait & for how long? (as much as i love my expensive SGs2, i don’t feel like staring at it all day long)
    You’ve guessed right, I’m certainly not into that stuff but thios is my last hope. It really is.

  17. Hi Jayce, my sGs2 in in odin mode that says downloading do not turn off target, i know from previous reply that i’m supposed to flash a new firmware but i don’t want to do that. How do i get out of that screen?

    Enter CS for MD5..
    Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
    Please wait..

    then my odin stops working and it says its not responding i have a compaq presario CQ57 and i just wanted to know if you could help me fix this. Please and thank you in andvance

  19. okay so i have a question my Galaxy s II is in odin mode after some moron tried flashing it from sprint to boost mobile however when u try to make a call its virgin mobile please tell me how to fix this

    I got a problem where i tried to upgrade my galaxy s2 4.0.2 to a 4.1.2 jellybean. i downloaded I9100XWLS8_I9100XXLS8_I9100FOPLS3_HOME.tar.md5 and then used odin3 1.85 to do it. Then my friend unplugged the usb cable while it was processing. the next thing i know, my phone got this symbol “phone—-!—–pc” on the screen. dont know what to do now. pls helpppppppp

  22. I have a samsung galaxy smart camera. It put itself in Odin mode. I can’t get it to quit this application. Can’t use my camera in any way. What is it doing? Why ? What do I do? Help please.

  23. my samsumg galaxy sii got stuck in odin mode and my battery died now when I turn it on, it doesn’t even make it thur the media scan without out shuting down. and shows and error : processer.com.andiord… I can read it fast enough .. plz help me
